Forums - Nintendo - EA: "There isn't much room for other titles than 1st party on Switch"

There was a time when consoles only played one game and people would be forced to leave their house and pour cash into a little hole in the box that played that one game.

Then home computers came along.

Moving goalposts much? Look, you said 3rd-parties get scraps. Apparently you're wrong, otherwise 3rd-parties wouldn't release their stuff in such an amount. Now you talk about other stuff I don't care about. But that doesn't mean your first take was just wrong.

And about defensiveness: you are pretty new here (came years after me). So you probably don't know, that I tend to criticize Nintendo when they deserve it. Your statement was just bad.

Nintendo still makes console games, EA couldn't make one to save their lives.

No need to get defensive? FYI it’s good to be aware of your favourite consoles weaknesses. The highest game sale, by far, are all 1st party. Xbox and PlayStation are dominated by 3rd party sales.

Look I’ll do it: Xbox One has a serious lack of 1st party exclusives. See it’s ok to be self aware :)

That’s just devs trying to cash in on the sales. Unless they are high profile rereleases most will be lucky to sell 100k-500k lifetime.

You have a nintendomination banner so I went off that. So you criticize Nintendo...congrats you are an objective Nintendo fan.

I’d say the goalposts are fine. It’s the same story every gen....why do Nintendo fans care that 3rd party games generally don’t thrive? It isn’t an attack on Nintendo or their games...so why care? Switch is selling like crazy and even then you guys can’t admit one thing different about the platform.

The tweet mentioned over 1000 titles releasing in the year alone...,how do you expect that to be divided up? Even worse when you introduce Nintendo software getting the lions share. Mostly everybody gets scraps, but they try anyway because Switch is the hottest gaming system out there.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

People don't buy Nintendo consoles for third party games. People buy because it has the best exclusive library of any home console, look at wiiU, with Bayonetta 2, Mario 3d, super Mario U, Pikmin 3, Wind waker HD, Twilight princess HD, Wonderful 101, Mario Kart 8, Breath of the wild, Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, and many more.

Look at the switch, same thing again, most people buy it as a secondary console, most of those gamers already have either a PC or ps4 or xbox so there's no point in third party on it.

I agree for the most part. Most people who own a Switch, also have a PS4 or an Xbox One. It makes sense that a multiplatform game will be played on the home consoles as the horsepower provides for a better version of said titles.

However some people want portability. I know my PS4 runs circles over the Switch when playing Dark Souls Remastered, yet I bought the Switch version simply because I felt it was the type of game I would better enjoy on the go and anywhere (so I could grind) else.

I find myself playing RPGs on the Switch more than I do on the home consoles as of late, so I do most of my RPG gaming on the Switch rather than on my PS4. I believe EA is missing a potential market for 1-2 mill units sales of their games by bypassing the Switch. 50+ million units sold (and quickly growing) is a market they should be tapping.

Personally I would buy a Madden version on the Switch (provided it isn't a half done port) because I feel I can get more out of the game if I can play it anywhere.

EA: we cant sell loot shit boxes on the switch, so theres no room for our worthless garbage. Fuck you EA, nobody noticed you werent there any fucking way. This is the only company that's shittier than crapcom. What an achievement.

There are certainly hardly any Switch owners who care, but EA has shareholders and those people will continue to ask EA why they aren't making Switch games. After all, EA is a US-based third party publisher and Switch is highly successful in that country. Shareholders would like EA to take advantage of such a huge installed base, but since EA doesn't want to develop Switch games, they have to continue to come up with justifications why they aren't doing it.

Said justifications are unsurprisingly hilarious to read because the logic of those justifications is heavily flawed.

I dont know what happened to my original response.. it was all screwed up. Haha. I agree, that they're trying to appease to shareholders, even if it comes off as though they think they're all retarded. Its sad that they're so shortsighted.

What drugs are EA on!

Best selling Switch games

1 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Nintendo
2 Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo
3 Super Mario Odyssey Nintendo
4 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Nintendo
5 Pokémon Sword and Shield Nintendo
6 Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! Nintendo
7 Splatoon 2 Nintendo
8 Super Mario Party Nintendo
9 New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe Nintendo
10 Luigi's Mansion 3 Nintendo
11 Super Mario Maker 2 Nintendo
12 The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening Nintendo

15 Fire Emblem: Three Houses Nintendo
16 Kirby Star Allies Nintendo

If they just kept on going down the best selling list the whole way, don't just stop at number 19 but go all the way to 20
they would see theres a non Nintendo published game there

The reason so many are coming to Switch is that many of them report their best sales on Switch. The reason that overall 3rd-parties have a smaller percentage of the sales is, that the big sellers on other platforms is, that the best sellers aren't released on Switch. It is the same old argument: look, the games we haven't released aren't selling! But the games that have been released, do sell well and often better than on other platforms. Why can't you admit, that your argument is broken. It isn't that hard.
