Forums - Politics Discussion - Official 2020 US Election: Democratic Party Discussion

@uran10 lol I just saw both those videos and came here to post Kyle's. Having it laid out like that does drastically reduce my faith in Warren. As I have about the same ideology as Kyle (I'm more left as I'm a democratic socialist not a social democrat) it was clear to me from the jump that Bernie is just the all-around better candidate and is the clear winner over Warren. To those who are more conservative and have more trust in the current system, I can see and totally understand why they'd vote Warren. She's not a bad candidate I just feel that if you're a progressive, or populist and like what she's presenting and also don't have trust with the current system why not just go all the way and vote Bernie?

The week in American political scandals:

-Joe Biden threatened to suspend aid to Ukraine to defend his son from a corruption investigation that he definitely deserved.

-Donald Trump threatened to suspend aid to Ukraine to force a corruption investigation into Joe Biden, his top-polling rival for next year's election.

-Elizabeth Warren did not threaten to suspend aid to Ukraine, but she did grill steaks.

Lol

Also, you can add the Luigi-level death stare of Greate Thunberg at Donald Trump: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/sep/23/greta-thunberg-trump-stare-video-moment-un-summit

@tsogud Kyle puts it very nicely much nicer than I ever could cause I currently have 0 tolerance for anything that looks and smells of corruption. Did you see the WFP's endorsement and how they got money from an organization where Warren's daughter is the chairwoman?

The DNC declared the new qualifying criteria for debate 5:

This is interesting. The donor threshold only increased a little bit. If it had doubled to 260K, only Sanders, Warren and Buttigieg had made it in June (based on the donor map) and Biden was pretty close. If they had tripled it from the first debate (like they did with the polling), we would've 195K. This would include also Biden, Harris and Beto was pretty close. With only 165K Beto was above that already back then. 165K is doable for everyone who got to the third debate. And probably also Steyer, as he got the donors pretty quick. This seems like they done away with the donor criteria, so only polls are qualifying going forward. With strongly increasing donor criteria we would've soon only Sanders and Warren on debate stage.

The new polling path in early voting states seems hand-crafted for Steyer, who concentrates on the early states.

It also benefits Gabbard, who also concentrates on the early states.

Interestingly, Booker doesn't qualify under any criterion right now.

That Booker doesn't qualify yet is interesting. He was in front of Amy Klobuchar with unique donors. Maybe his campaign hasn't yet declared that he already fulfilled the criteria.

But yeah, I am not surprised that besides him everybody who qualified for debate three has already enough unique donors, as the DNC basically didn't strengthen on this criteria. It would be interesting though if they would do that, a debate only with Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders would be to my liking.

Gabbard will fail at the polling, as 3% is too steep for her. Not only her, I see Klobuchar, Castro and Booker fail too. Maybe also O'Rourke, not sure about him. Yang might struggle, but has the ability to get to 3%.

And Tulsi Gabbard has qualified for the fourth debate. I think it is highly unlikely that Marianne Williamson will get there too, so the fourth debate includes probably twelve candidates.

I was just about to post this, I'm so happy for her. Now for the love of god, put her on stage with warren so Tulsi can do Tulsi things. Tulsi, Warren, Bernie and Biden need to be in the same night if they're gonna split it 6 and 6.

Maybe since there is a smaller crowd they'll get a chance to actually press Gabbard on her record for once. Will be magnificent to watch.

New polls.
