Forums - Sales Discussion - Japan Sales Week 46 Media Create/Famitsu/Dengeki - November 12-18, 2018

200k is 1% of total sales forecasts for this fiscal year WORLDWIDE. Sold in one week in a specific territory, it's still early to say for sure, but I had a feeling Nintendo would meet their sales forecasts

LOL, I guess I should have just waited a few minutes and posted on here. Like I said in the other thread, I still see the Switch missing its goal by around 800k-1M, unless there are no drops, and the PS4 only missing it by 200K-400k.

800k-1m???? That would only be 3-3.2 million for the whole year when last year did 3.3 million.

Yes missing 800k-1M is too much. It is currently tracking almost exactly the same as last year, 2,289,338 YTD compared to 2,252,328 YTD for the same week last year. But should have a much stronger holiday. Should finish with 3.6-3.8m imo. So missing 4m by 200-400k.

That's closer to a Nintendo circle than a Pac man...

Brilliant Switch sales, Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee sales will only continue over the holidays. I'm guessing media create doesn't count the digital versions that came with the bundles which I'm sure a significant portion of those 200k Switch units came from.

Pac-man nooooo dont eat us!

If Switch sells 200k every single week for the rest of the year it ends up at 3.5 million. Are you expecting it to sell 200k next week?

More closer to 175,000 every single week, I think to reach 3.5. 200,000 each week will put it about 3,689,000.

With this start, that is not a totally unreasonable average to expect for the switch over the festive period, with Smash still to come.

It needs an avg of 200k per week not has to hit 200k next week. There is a difference

Averaged 176k over the same period last year, so should easily manage higher this year, 200k average should be about right, if not slightly higher.

The most awaited week for the Switch has arrived. With more than 370% increase from last week numbers  (146k+), the Switch has put impressive numbers making this week the biggest week of the year. Comparing from last years' it went up more than 230% (+113k). If this is any indication how the holidays will play for Big Nintendo, it will do great.

Biggest 10 weeks of 2018

# W Sales
1 46 200800
2 1 146006
3 33 54647
4 11 54342
5 45 54235
6 29 53745
7 18 53113
8 31 50799
9 26 50762
10 12 50412

Wow, incredible week. This week is higher than MonHun week for PS4 and higher than the last christmas except the two highest weeks. Interesting now to see if on Smash-release these numbers can be reached. Might be difficult, as this week all the bundles were boosting numbers.

Here is the week 46 update in terms of the two big consoles in Japan's path to be able to reach the commonly stated (in these sales threads) estimates for 2018 sales (2 mil for PS4, 4 mil for Switch) .

TWS GD YTD % Goal AWN (Change)
PS4 17,789 -73,760 1,376,944 68.8% (+0.8) 103,842 (+12.293)
Switch 200,850 -72,223 2,289,338 57.2% (+5.0) 285,110 (+12,037)

TWS - This week's sales
GD - Goal differential, the difference between the average week needed from last week compared to this week's sales
YTD - Units sold in 2018 so far including this week's sales
AWN - Average weekly sales needed to reach the estimate for the console.

Big week as expected for the Switch with Pokemon release + Pokemon/Smash bundles. It actually got closer to its goal than the PS4 did for the first time in like half a year or so, by about 500 units. Both systems' AWN raised by 12k. The race to who can come closest has tightened up considerably.

LOL, I guess I should have just waited a few minutes and posted on here. Like I said in the other thread, I still see the Switch missing its goal by around 800k-1M, unless there are no drops, and the PS4 only missing it by 200K-400k.

My guess is around 500-700k for the switch.

Great Pokemon sales and amazing Switch HW. Nothing really else to say about this week thats noteworthy. Just domination overall

Well, I think it is noteworthy that RDR2 drops fast, while COD keeps staying strong. Why suddenly the japanese are COD-fans?
