That was a weak show

4/10

I wouldn't even give it that. Crackdown looks terrible and the rest was all gamepass stuff and expansions for games I don't have or don't like.

2/10 and I'm only being that generous because the crowd was inexplicably excited, even when No Man's Sea was discussed.

Oh, my score was that high just because I really liked the KH III and DMC part of the show, and the studio announcements were also nice.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Console sells don't matter but software sells does. In fact, Phil Spencer said in a theoretical situation if they can sell fewer consoles, but more software will be ideal. If you buy a ps5 and buy 1 game a year or throw it in the closet it does Sony no good.

This makes sense, since MS is obviously selling their consoles at a loss. Again, software sales this gen pretty much match the console sales, so I don’t get your point why it should be different next gen, especially since MS seems to be pushing for Gamepass now.

If Microsoft were dominating in EU (not u.k.) instead of North America their software attach ratio will be way less. North America is the biggest consumer when it comes to video games for consoles. That's why you even see Japanese developers catering to the west (ffxv) Microsoft dominates Mexico, but they don't buy nearly as much video games.

Considering the fact that Obsidian and InXile have tons of OG Fallout members, and both are known for fallout-esq games (Wasteland and Fallout New Vegas), I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft tried to make the Wasteland IP into the next Fallout with some kind of collab between the studio members.

@Snoopy:

PS4's Exclusive Sales with 2 Million or More:

10.12 - Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
6.49 - The Last of Us Remastered
5.56 - Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
5.28 - Horizon: Zero Dawn
4.95 - God of War
4.24 - Marvel's Spider-Man
3.47 - Gran Turismo Sport
3.02 - Killzone: Shadow Fall
3.00 - Bloodborne
2.95 - inFamous: Second Son
2.37 - Driveclub
2.28 - Ratchet & Clank
2.11 - Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Xbox One's Exclusive Sales with 2 Million or More:

4.88 - Halo 5: Guardians
3.85 - Forza Horizon 3
3.61 - Gears of War: Ultimate
3.44 - Halo: The Master Chief Collection
3.36 - Gears of War 4
3.10 - TitanFall
2.40 - Forza Motorsport 5
2.02 - Forza Motorsport 6

What can we gather from this?

1 - Sony has more exclusives that sold more than 2 million by a wide margin.
2 - Sony has more variety in franchises (Xbox's is almost exclusively halo, gears, forza)
3 - Sony actually embraces new IP (The Last of us, sort of, Horizon Zero Dawn, Bloodborne, DriveClub vs TitanFall which went multiplatform)
4 - None of the Xbox Games came out this year or last. 4 PS4 games came out this year or last (Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted The Lost Legacy, God of War, Spider-Man)
5 - Though not on this list there are plenty more over the 1 million sales mark on Ps4 (but after a certain point it gets tedious to keep writing them down).

My point is, don't try to whip your numbers out by being highly specified just to massage the data to make it look like however you want it to look like. Saying "NPD says that, per the ratio of games to consoles, Xbox Exclusives sell more" is like saying "at my house and according to my parents, I'm the smartest person in the world". Adding qualifiers to your data CAN be fun, but it can also paint reality in a light that isn't real.

So I return back to my point - and a point this Xbox presentation sadly amplified: what faith does Microsoft have at this point? They haven't been releasing critically acclaimed games outside of forza, and even with your qualifiers they're not selling as well as PS4 counterparts, either. I mean, let's compare two games:

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection sold 5.56 million copies vs Halo: The Master Chief Collection sold 3.44 million copies. Both were compilation bundles made up of last gen's most loved and successful franchises. Both were bundled in with consoles, both had multiple remasters. Yet, Halo had 4 games WITH multiplayer and Uncharted had 3 games with the multiplayer modes removed. Halo was, before this gen, the better selling of the two franchises. And yet, despite all those handicaps and such, Halo still sold less by more than 2 million.

Let's look at another comparison. Gears of War Ultimate's 3.61 million vs The Last of Us Remastered's 6.49 million. Almost 3 million difference, yet Gears of War Ultimate was a remaster with a lot of improvements from years ago vs The Last of Us Remastered was a barely upscaled version of a game that only came out the prior year. This shows the huge difference between how each console has gone; Sony has GAINED traction and has been impressing people more and more while Xbox has been losing ground and losing steam every day.

So I repeat: What gives any of you faith in Xbox? They're buying up companies, sure, but look what they did to Rare. When was the last time they released a critically acclaimed, bestselling game that was an exclusive? when was the last time they released a new IP that was actually good? When was the last time they gave us a game that got people talking about how surprisingly GOOD it was? It's been a while, hasn't it?

I used to think the second half of last gen was kinda held off so they could get a head start on this generation (which was why I got an Xbox One in the first place), but as it turns out they had even less to show this generation and this presentation really clinched it for me. There was literally nothing in that presentation that made me want to dust off my Xbox and play it again; the best stuff in the presentation just made me remember how awesome my Ps4 is. IT made me want to play Red Dead Redemption. It made me excited for Kingdom Hearts. It reminded me how great Final Fantasy was.

So again, what reason does anyone have to play Xbox or buy new Xboxes? (Aside from folks who care more about the graphics capabilities of the Xbox one X vs the Exclusives and unique gaming experiences on PS4)

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

That would be a mistake imo..... Wasteland 2 was a huge letdown to me (And a buggy mess ontop).
Torment + Pillars of Eternity would be much better to back by MS.

Like if you own the planescape torment IP,..... you HAVE to make a new game in the series, you have too!
Also Pillars of Eternity is pretty darn good as is, just do more of that.

2 million out of 90 million ps4 owners is impressive? Lol okay, thanks for proving my point showing how desperate you are. Also, since you included last gen games, I guess you can include all the cod games, rdr, gta4, gears games, previous Halo games and more.  The fact that xbox has good online multiplayer exclusive games that is updated and all the multiplatform games that play better which is proven to be what ps4 owners play the most is more than enough for me. I use my ps4 for the couple exclusives a year that come out that interest me and back in the closet it goes.

Rare's sea of thieves has made a profit and I like it. Reviews are just opinions. It needed more content and that is what is happening now.  Can't wait to pvp in the open seas with my friends. Wish there were more good ps4 exclusives that allow me to play with my friends. Critics tend to enjoy movie games which never really appeal that much to me, to be honest. For example, I'm liking RDR2, but I don't think it's good as the first one because they took the artistic movie route over just being fun like the first one.

I was talking about a triple A Wasteland, basically a reboot of sorts. Not having two devs work on a isometric AA game, that wouldn't even need more than one studio.

Considering most multiplatform games don’t even sell that number on several platforms it’s damn impressive. Especially since those numbers are pretty outdated and those games have sold considerably more including digital.

Deny it all you want but stellar exclusives sell consoles and Sony is doing a considerably better job at producing console sellers than Microsoft. Maybe not 1 or 2 great games, but 5-10 or more and it helps selling a 5 year old console like it is...and Microsoft could’ve done the same and the XBox would sell much better. This isn’t even up for discussion, since even MS have realised this by now.

lol idk what people “disappointed” were expecting.

Anyway we knew about Obsidian but holy crap inXile is a great snag.
