Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Kotaku- Microsoft is close to buying Obsidian Entertainment

Wish THQ Nordic acquired them instead, IMO they're about only publisher that would do them justice and let them make proper RPGs.

Microsoft making moves that has me interested in them next generation. Maybe it is time for the return to complete multiplatform.

Great news. I hope the y make great AAA RPG exclusives for xbox,
but maintain support for theirs previous projects in PC . I want them to release some games on Steam and GOG too.
A Halo RPG in the Forerunners age(Before the creation of Halo rings) can be a great game.

Sorry for my bad english

Not a big fan of obsidian but hopefully they come up with something good once acquired

Considering how good Obsidian is and how Microsoft has traditionally handled PC gaming, I take this as absolutely horrible news.

Same. I can see them making them work on projects they don't exactly want to, as well as locking them to Win 10 store with zero mod support.

End of an era for them if it happens.

R.I.P to Turn-based RPG games from Obsidian.....

I rather liked Pillars of Eternity 1 & 2 as well.
This is sad news, if their gonna make xbox exclusive games in the future and likely not the turn based story drive dungeons & dragons style rpgs...
for everyone.

I think this is bad news, as a fan of their latest works.

Great news!

I hope this happens and they'll be working on a Fallout New Vegas type a game.

Ew, please dont.

No smoke without fire. This isn't exactly the first time this has come up.

Like I said before, as long as they have creative freedom then it's a fantastic idea.

Did you read the article?

"A person familiar with goings-on at Microsoft said the company has been looking to bolster its PC development, which makes the PC-focused Obsidian a perfect fit."
