Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Petition against Nintendo Switch Online Service

Seriously this is incomprehensible to me. Nintendo has always had bad free internet on past devices. The fact that it runs much smoother now alone makes the $20 worth it a year, which is far less than Sony and Microsoft fans are paying. On top of that we get a growing list of free nes games that have online capabilities now? Wow! I'd pay far more than $20 a year for this. I just don't get this anger? Do you want Nintendo to go back to their horrible connections on the Wii with Brawl? Do you people not remember how horrible of an experience that was? No to free and terrible Internet! I'll gladly pay this every year!

In fact, find me a petition to increase the amount!

Ok ... Nintendo has not announced any dedicated servers that come with the subscription service. As far as we know, the difference between the quality between Switch multiplayer before the subscription update and after will be nothing. You're paying for peer to peer, not Nintendo's own servers.

The Wii U's multiplayer was not even that bad. Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 played very well. Smash was a fuckup but fighting games are known for having complications with Net code.

It seems to me like you are just purposefully being ignorant to try and have a blissful result. We could receive more information and that information might make the service sound a lot better. But a lot of what you are saying has no correlation with what facts we have currently.

The nerve to go as far as asking for the amount to increase? I'd expect a writer to be more educated at the very least, but to be so anti-consumer is crazy.

I think this plan lacks ambition. Why would you set the signature goal at 100? Why not go for 10000? That would really show them!

At least 10k.  Probably 100k is more like it.

I don't like the concept of paying for a service... But it's less than €10/year for 20+ NES games. I'd even pay for it if online play was not included.

Can one be intentionally ignorant?

I wasn't comparing it to Wii U, but Wii, to which switches online is far better. It also, in my opinion based on Mario Aces and Mario Kart, seems more stable than Wii U games by comparison.

Also, Nintendo announced a long time ago we would temporarily get free internet until some other things launched, so we never should have gotten used to this being free, but rather viewed it as a free trial ( a long one).

The petition I jokingly suggested was more or less just that; a joke. That being said, if more money meant better features, I'd totally be willing to pay more.

Also, no need to throw insults. I'm not going to do the same to you. Have a pleasant day.

What do you mean intentionally ignorant? It literally does not matter in the slightest if you were comparing it to the Wii or the Wii U (I didn't say you compared it the U), because the Wii U did exist and it did have pretty decent online. It doesn't make me ignorant to compare it the U, on the contrary, it makes you ignorant to create a fallacy like "but but but the Wii!" as if there wasn't already a system with free online that was better (well ... besides you know ... a PC).

I have played Mario Kart 8 Deluxe online. It is not much better at all. And Splatoon 2's online even has a lot of the same problems as 1 (Lobby constantly getting kicked out, game freezing and ending, etc). It even has a worse tick rate than Splatoon had (only 16hz), 30% slower.

I never said that I thought it was always free? Don't know where you got that.

I didn't throw insults. Haha. You need to rethink what you consider an insult than, because you said "I'm not going to do the same to you", but then called me intentionally ignorant. So either we both "threw insults" (honestly silly) or we both didn't.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

While you are at it, also make a petition against Ps Plus and XBox Live.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Considering that I've bought over 100 Switch games in the last year and a bit since it launched I'm fairly confident that with 12 months of exclusive sales for nintendo+ sub I'll more than save the $20 cost for the service, as well as the obvious fact that I'm drooling over the thought of getting access to online versions of some classic NES titles next week. Also....

It's $20 a year.... or 5cent per day I mean... is that a lot of cash for a service which they stated from the very launch of the system a year ago would come in with a cost now, you are complaining about a service which you've basically had a year and a half free trial of from Nintendo, and they'll even gift you another week of trial when it fully launches with the NES titles next week.
