Eh... not a good choice. They just picked him because he's famous and will appeal to people that don't care about the games.

Off the top of my head... better choices would have been Jean Claude Van Damme, John Cena, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Vin Diesel, Mark Wahlberg, Dolph Lundgren or Michael B Jordan.

The series is going off the books not the games.

Yeah, from what I've been hearing, he specifically said that he hates wearing beards in the books because they are itchy. Giving him a beard in Witcher 3 was a design decision so that CDP could show off their real-time hair and beard growth technology honestly. I don't think we should hold Netflix to the game standards in this case when the showrunner has already made it clear that this is an adaptation of the books rather than the games.

He definitely needs the scars though, considering Ciri is supposedly in her mid teens in this show, Geralt has already been a Witcher for decades at the point this show is set, there is no way he'd make it through decades of monster slaying with that pretty boy face still intact, he needs facial scars.

I just had a thought. One of the characters they announced with the cast announcement was an odd woman out. She is a character from one of the prequel books, decades earlier when Geralt was still a new Witcher, and she died in that book. I found it strange that she was on the cast for the show, which seems to be set decades later when Ciri is a teenager. Either a. they aren't going to follow the books all that closely and they're going to have Geralt encounter her decades later than he did in the books, which will be a disappointment for many fans for sure, or b. the season will start decades earlier and show Geralt's early days as a Witcher and how he came to have Ciri as an adopted daughter through the rule of surprise, before time skipping forward mid-season to the point where Ciri is a teenager and Cintra falls to Nilfgaard. If scenario B is what is happening, that would explain why Geralt has no scars, they will probably film the early part of the season first.

Yeah no. It just looks bad. He needs a beard, scars, and shorter hair.

I don't really mind the long hair and no beard, since they are going for a younger look than we saw in Witcher 3 (Geralt actually had longer hair and no beard in Witcher 1), but he definitely needs scars, he looks like too much of a pretty boy to be a monster hunter currently.

Yeah thats pretty much the issue, he looks too much  like a pretty boy. the hair looks to "taken care of" as well. They should add scars, and maybe not a full beard but just a little bit of stubble. To give him more of a rigid look and "on the road look"

This should be called ''Old Fabio'' and original Netflix Biopic

Yeah, they badly need to give him some scars before filming. Geralt has been hunting dangerous monsters for decades before the start of this series, they honestly think it is believable for him to a have a flawless pretty boy face like that? He looks more like an Elf from LOTR or Lucius Malfoy from Harry Potter than Geralt right now.

It's not just his face, the wig itself isn't that great either. Obviously, he's going to need some scars, the Witcher eyes, and I'd personally prefer they let him grow his beard out a bit as well. He looked quite good with it during the early parts of Man of Steel. Getting back to the wig though, it's too clean. Especially around the top. We're talking about a monster hunter here. Geralt spends most of his time in the wild, tracking various beasts, through all kinds of environments…..and yet this wig has him looking like he wakes up every morning to a team of grooming experts. Dirty it up a bit. Pull some strands out of place , idk...but you gotta do something with it.

I don't know, if I saw him and didn't know this Netflix show was being made, I could very easily identify him as Geralt. He never had a beard in the first game, his hair was also longer too, and I always kept him clean shaven in the third game lol. Also this is based on the books where he apparently never had a beard either, so meh. Only thing that's missing is some battle scars and his hair seems too... clean, lol. Rough him up a bit and I think he looks decent for the role to be honest.

Also this is a series not a movie :P

OT: Refer to what I said above, I actually think he looks alright, but could do with roughing up a bit, lol.

Netflix is only touching this IP from the popularity of the games.
