I simply never understood why Japanese Devs go exclusive with their games instead of multiplate. Why is persona not on Nintendo? It would sell so much more on there. Same goes for yo Kai watch. Why didn't they release it on PS?. And there are a lot more.

I agree. In these times with multiplatform enabled engines and programming and development tools that support multiple platforms it should be a no brainer. You see it for indies: as these don't care that much about platform politics and their games haven't the visibility and pull of bigger productions they often support a multitude of platforms.

Japanese business is notorious for "you wash my back, I'll wash yours" deals.  Octopath Traveller is a good example.  There is no reason in the world why that game shouldn't be on PS4 and PC.  While favor-for-a-favor business might be great for company executives, it's the customers who get screwed.  That it still seems to be going on in today's world is incredibly short-sighted.

I beat BOTW and played about 4-5 hours of MHW. So yeah.

Then you're lying or trolling, because the only similarities between these games are that they are third person fantasy games. They aren't even the same levels of fantasy (Low Fantasy in MHW vs High Fantasy in BotW).

OK, Have you even played them?

1. Both 3rd Person

2. Both Fantasy

3. Both have hunting mechanics

4. Both have large creatures (Hilnox/stone and monsters)

5. Both have armors/weapons that can be changed

6. Both overworld

7. Both have a natural outdoor landscape

.... I could go on and on and on, but it should be pretty obvious that MHW is a Zelda clone. And that doesnt mean it's bad. Okami is considered a zelda "clone" and it's still a great game. IMO MHW is a bit more blatant of a clone, but still good.

Why is it short sighted? I dont get the problem. Customers should blame themselves for not buying the console. A companys job is to get exclusives and make their system the most attractive to consumers.

Yeah, I don’t think the Xbox One version sold as much as the PS4 version. Of the reported 8.3M, the PS4 probably sold 7M.

Fact is PS4 wasnt the saving grace though. Without Xbox One and PC, combined sales wouldnt be where they are. That's all I'm saying.

Well you’d be incorrect. The PS4 alone would have made it the best selling MH game. And without the PS4 version selling that much, there wouldn’t have been a PC version.

That’s a great number. Give the person who saw the light and brought MH back to Playstation a raise.

Actually if that were the case, the game wouldve only sold around 4M. Thank the heavens for Xbox and PC for the added 6m sales.

Ps4 version probably at 7m.

Fact? Funny that because the ps4 version alone will probably do over 10m Ltd. The game hasn't even gone very cheap on sale yet or had it's first holiday. Also if pc and xbox versions were never made even more would buy it on ps4. Anyway ps4 version alone absolutely is a saving grace. The pc sales are the icing on the cake.

@chazore I'm just glad there are millions on pc who actually buy these games rather then boycott like you  If every pc gamer thought like you you'd be lucky to get any games release at all never mindlate. e

600+ hours in MHW and I've 100%'d BotW twice. You're a motion if you think I'm going to buy that you're not trolling after those reasons you've given.

I actually haven't said that I was never going to buy the game at all. I'm just waiting for the price cut to go down, the content to go in sync and for the actual game to be optimized.

Yeah, thank god there are mindless chumps on all the platforms, that would rather give first and deal with issues up front. Me?, nah, I'm getting too old for that toss out and fix later bullshit.

Actually, we still get games regardless, so there are people like me and thank god there are, because I'd rather be a free thinker and someone who punishes a company for doing less, rather than being some scumbag company slave and buying everything even in busted states.

I can imagine that if there were a slew of busted or really crappy games on PS4, you;'d look down on those devs. You know as well as I do that you have tastes, you won't buy literally everything and you'll deem something as being shit, so when that happens the same example can be used against you, simply because your tastes aren't like others, let alone standards, but why question yours when you'll question mine right?.

The PC version was actually planned before the game was even sold, so you'd be wrong on that.

Can't we just stop bringing up how ridiculous some VGC users were in their ignorant attack on "Crapcom" regarding Monster Hunter World every time we get an update? I mean I had probably engaged in more arguments than anyone here explaining in detail why MHW was a great move and why it had so much potential; that it was financially and morally a bad step on Capcom's part to betray the player-base (PSP's) that made Monster Hunter what it is, and so on and so forth. Every point I made was proven (or will be proven) right. But while I understand the pleasure and satisfaction of temporarily making fun of short-sighted fools or terribly-off predictions (including my own), FFS it's been about 7 months since the game came out, are we keeping this behavior forever or what?

Speaking of sales distribution, at least some 7 million of those 8.3 mil were sold on PS4. If the game were a PS4 exclusive, then exclusivity-hype and interested X1/multiconsole owners would have pushed sales close to (or exceeded) 8 million within the same time frame, so not much would have been lost.

Xbox is becoming an insignificant platform to Japanese games while PC is slowly but surely approaching PS4 levels in this area. millions of old and new school console-gamers switched and continue to switch to PC, this partly explains the rising interest in Japanese games among PC gamers. MHW-PC numbers are nothing short of phenomenal for a late-ish port that isn't even great. Fortunately, this means Monster Hunter's transition to next generation will be butter smooth.

But.....Using updated information to mock those who were wrong in the past is part of our heritage at VGC. It's tradition. Plus, it played an important role in contributing the crazy level of this thread. Which I would rate a........6.5.
