I think you misunderstood my second question - I meant to ask, do you think the fact that people ask for evidence before condemning something can tell you something about where a person stands on the right/left axis in politics?

Presumably you do, as you say you think asking for evidence is a sign of being right leaning or centrist, but not left leaning, but I have to ask nonetheless, because the idea seems crazy to me.

I didn't but the answer is the same especially in these times. The majority of the claims, accusations and stances by the conventional left are factually incorrect, not supported by evidence or flat out lies. They're closer to a mob with a sore tooth.

Who are "the conventional left", and what are these claims, accusations and stances held by this group that are factually incorrect, not supported by evidence or flat out lies? Right now you are doing the exact same thing you are condemning - you're making an accusation/claim without providing any evidence or explanation.

Rationality and decency got permabanned from Neogaf and Neo-Neogaf.

By the way, does anyone know if NeoGaf became a more "reasonable" (meaning, more to the centre of politics) forum ever since the whole mob left en masse for ResetEra?

NeoGaf today is far right.

I assume that's hyperbola. Has it actually changed a lot though? I can't be bothered to check.

Yeah, I don't think mob mentality is prone to one side of politics over the other. I will say that the abdication of individual thought and reliance on groupthink instead seems to occur more with extremists.

Based on? Even colleges towns or local gamestores have a groupthinking mentality but those aint no way extreme. Hell even here on vgc there is also a certain bandwagon

Based on the reality that it is typically the extremists who do not want to compromise. Compromise is essential in politics and life as it's what happens when differently-minded groups of people try to do more than just assert their own dominance over all else.  The inability to do anything other than crusade against someone or something out of sheer hatred and malice is typically reserved for that of extremists. In the case in which I was pleading for evidence and eventually got banned, it didn't matter to these people that they had no actual evidence of their claims. They cheerfully and willfully as a collective ignored that and continued defaming a creator and his work for an idea that only persisted in their head and not reality.  Whereas anybody who is not an extremist would be like, "Well, I may not agree 100% with all of this man's opinions, but unless the guy has actually done or said racist or white supremacist things, I'm not going to mindlessly call him a nazi with no proof".

The definition of extremist:

a person who favours or resorts to immoderate, uncompromising, or fanatical methods or behaviour, esp in being politically radical

I'm just trying to answer your simple questions as quickly as possible and elaborate on  what I said earlier. I want keep this from snowballing so I'm gonna give some examples quickly. Alot of the accusations by the left (the public figures ranging from the media, actvists, all the way to celebrities) of racism, being nazis, sexists, alt-right, etc on people who they disagree with.

http://dailycaller.com/2018/05/02/jordan-peterson-smear-alt-right/

Kanye West gets dog piled by the media, Hollywood and politicians because he disagrees with them.

Alot of lefties want to ban machine guns even though they already are. They don't know the difference between semi-auto and automatic rifles. They don't even know what type of gun that's used the most often in shootings but yet want to ban AR-15s specifically.

One of their favs is minorities (they include women in that for some reason) are being oppressed in the states. Which isn't true in any sense.

Alot of the claims by blm aren't true. The very case that sparked it wasn't true. Statistics don't back up anything they say so they show no evidence. They're not interested in saving black lives because they ignore the biggest threats to black people. https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s

Could the same not also be said of many arguments made by right-wing individuals? I don't see how this is a partisan phenomenon by any means...

Hillary Clinton is bitter that she lost, and she and Trump were the two least popular candidates ever. Not exactly a spokesperson for the left, but sure. As for that CNN guest - she was talked back to by the CNN staff. Aren't CNN left leaning? Doesn't this tick of an alarm that maybe, just maybe her opinions are more extreme than most people's? I don't know who Jordan Peterson is, or what he's done so I don't really have anything to say about that.

But I'll give you one thing - politics in the US are more polarized than most places, and there are several people on the left (and the right) that make unfounded claims and whatnot. I mean, the POTUS has claimed several times that climate change is a hoax for crying out loud. Bill O'Reilly referred to those criticizing Kanye West (wether that criticism was justified or not) as "the American Stalinists", which is just as ridiculous as throwing around "nazi" (which, hey, Bill O'Reilly has also done, as have people on the left). Surely you can admit that people from all sides of the political spectrum often ignore or don't seek out facts before they make claims? That people on both sides throw out stupid insults?

Of course but on different topics and with different people. It's not as prevalent with the conventional right but there's some like Alex Jones (with out there conspiracies) and Candice Owens (who's likely a fake conservative just parroting what she thinks conservatives what to hear which she thinks is stuff Alex Jones says). Both are very cringy even though they up good points or quote smart people but they're poisoning the well.

I can't agree with your assertion that it is any less prevalent on the "conventional right" than the "conventional left" and it is certainly not something contained to the backwaters of Infowars, when half of the things that come out of the president's mouth can be classified as blatant bullshit.
