Forums - Sales Discussion - Japan sales (Week 14): Media Create/Famitsu/Dengeki - April 2 - 8, 2018

Q2 2017 weekly average

PS4-22.5k
NSW-36.5k

Q2 2018 weekly average
PS4-14.5k
NSW-40k

PS4 starts out this quarter on a bad note and is significantly behind the weekly average of Q2 last year and without big hitters this Spring, its hard to imagine this changing.

NSW started out this quarter a tad bit ahead of the average of Q2 last year. It has held a consistent 40-50k for the last 13 weeks so will be interesting to see if that can continue. Also Labo is a potential system seller.

Monster Hunter not reaching 2M this week? Booo.

At least Far Cry 5 reached 100k+.

How did it start out last year? This is one of the lowest selling points in the year for most things. It makes sense to be below average considering later in the year are when the mega weeks begin.

Switch eating them PS4 sales lol xD
But Jesus! That is way too low!
Good hold for the Switch with 40k+
Amazing legs for Kirby, Splatoon 2, bunch of Switch games and look at 1 2 Switch!!!!

Pocky Lover Boy!

40k ish baseline for Switch seems to be established, should increase when AC and Pokemon arrives.

Why IS PS4 really low? Didn't Monster Hunter help  it?

I dont see how 40k without new releases can be ridiculously low in any case.

very low compared to the 3ds. 3ds was doing 70-80k regularly. 40k isnt good for a nintendo handheld

Switch still making more money by far in comparison though. I agree though that switch baseline should be higher bur its not bad by no means. 3ds could be selling double hut imma say nintendo is happier with the switch for obvious reasons

Japan is not home console centric and hasn't been since the PS2 that's why, MH did help it but MH isn't going to change an entire gaming culture as portable gaming perfectly fits the culture and life style over there hence why portables sell well and mobile gaming is strong in Japan.

PS4 supply seems really weird.

Japan is indeed mobile-centric but I'd wait until the stock issues are resolved to see if ps4 continues to only sell 15-20k per week.
