Forums - Nintendo - EA is not committed to Switch, they don't understand the Switch market yet.

It's quite understandable why the won't fully support the Switch.
Their strategy is focused on mantaining their position of leadership in the market. And they're doing so partially through acquisition or buyout of emerging companies, but also by raising the barriers of entry for AAA development.
That's the reason why they've invested so much to develop the Frostbyte engine and they use it to promote their games rather than relying on widely used technologies such as UE4.
This strategy is less effective if a platform like the Switch becomes mainstream, so don't expect them to ever fully support it. On the contrary we'll likely see more focus for enanched Xbox One X ports.

I don't understand why EA would develop FIFA for Switch, or any other game for that matter. I have yet to meet a Nintendo fan to embrace EA games. I myself love FIFA, but honestly, EA doesn't make games; they make products that are the opposite of Nintendo games. If EA wants to make money, they shouldn't be on Nintendo systems.

Games aren't just the traditional stuff Nintendo makes.

EA makes games that are very different than Nintendo makes and that's why EA content would be great on Switch. It could add diversity to a platform that needs it. But if the audience for EA content is just elsewhere...

So are we under the impression that 3rd parties does as good on Nintendo as they do on Xbox and Playstation? Or is it that Xbox and Playstation buy games without quality?

Why should EA makes games targeting specifically Nintendo fanbase and lose the other 100M fanbase of Xbox and PS4?

Neither really.. Although it's true I'm not fond of many of these AAA style games that populate the Sony and MS console libraries, as many feel either overly convoluted and/or linear, glorified interactive movies. Not to say they aren't "quality" but many are certainly overhyped. But whatever, that's besides the point..

EA doesn't even necessarily have to make insanely good games or games that cater specifically to Nintendo's audience, or even exclusive games. Just port over some of your better games and chances are you'll get some decent returns on them judging by the strong Switch sales that doesn't look to slow anytime soon. I think Bethesda will soon prove this.

I just find it hard to believe that many indies can seemingly figure out the Switch audience enough to flourish on the platform, or at least make decent returns, but this major publisher that's been in the game for decades cannot?

Well I will refrain from commenting on the typical Nintendo fan mentality that others are making realistic and boring games, will consider that "taste".

Fifa is the best selling EA game, and from what some Nintendo fans said the game is quite good (just missing some things the other games have), so selling 1% is nowhere normal.

From what we see on this forum ANY and EVERYTHING is used as excuse by Nintendo fans to not buy a 3rd party game "out of principle", and has been like that since at least Wii (we can't say for before because VGC wasn't around). It is always the 3rd parties have to tailor their game to Nintendo or overcome the weak hardware for Nintendo fans to consider buying.

So if EA need to make a game specifically to the taste of Nintendo fans they won't do because the userbase is smaller, if they have to just port sure Nintendo fans can pressure both EA and Nintendo to get the port. But the amount of times AAA publishers failed on Nintendo HW isn't helping they trying.

It's still only the UK market where it's 1%. You love solid numbers, don't you? Then stop bringing back these 1% from the UK when we don't know the other numbers.

And yes, a 3rd party game can be successful on a Nintendo console, it just has to be complete and good. Examples are plenty.

How do you want me to bring numbers we don't have?

And we can also bring all the bad examples since Wii, what do you think?

Fifa18 did bomb though so which EA game would do well on Switch.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

1. Release FIFA, based on a sport mostly popular in Europe, Nintendo's weakest market, then act surprised when it doesn't sell. Don't give NA gamers anything they want or a chance to buy anything.
2. Throw up hands and declare Switch not profitable. Shrug shoulders when people point out the problems with Step 1.
3. Add in loot boxes.

So by that logic Sony shouldn't release game's for the Japanese market either?

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

EA is a bad company that makes bad games and sucks the soul out of everything they acquire. Good riddance.

The same old story, why am I not surprised?
