My out there Rey theory
In the early days of the First Order, just post Return of the Jedi, Snoke knew he needed a powerful Sith apprentice to have any prayer against Luke Skywalker. To this end he instituted a program taking what was known of the Emperor's cloning procedures and tried to create a Force being from genetic material of Luke Skywalker.
They also added in memory ingrams that were supposed to kick in automatically so that the clone would be powerful right from the get go, no training needed. Problem is the experiments were all failures. None of the clone kids showed any real Force potential. So Snoke had them killed/abandoned/dumped. He moved on to another plan, which was corrupting the son of Leia/Han, Ben Solo (Kylo Ren). That plan worked.
Rey however one of those discarded clones. Dumped on a desert planet and abandoned by some parents who didn't want her. Just one thing ... latent Force abilities kicked in for her as she entered adulthood.
Snoke done fucked up, in other words and now she is the blood of Luke Skywalker and is going to bring back Balance to the Force.

The stupidity of it all is just 40 years prior, Luke and Anakin brought the entire force into balance. The fact that it was totally undone in such a short amount of time makes the enitre importance of bringing it into balance kind of pointless. Like, who cares? It's just going to keep going out of balance every couple decades or so.
The writers for this new trilogy really shit on the original three and fucked everything up lore-wise.

It's possible. I think what they'll end up doing is Snoke being too powerful, kills Luke, and then Rey and Kylo take him out... in 9. I feel like thats the direction theyre going. Also I think (SPOILERS) They killed Han in 7 (SPOILERS), will kill Leia in 8 (they have to), and in 9 I think theyll kill Luke off |
I don't want to burst your bubble but Rey cannot be Obi-Wan's daughter. He could be his grand daughter though. She's born exactly 15 years after his death according to the official canon. It's possible that Obi-Wan had a daughter with Satine, but that would mean the Rey would have to have been his great granddaughter and there is no evidence that they had a child due to her position of Queen of Mandalor and Obi-Wan's commitment to the Jedi Order. Though they could be related through other means but don't hold your breath.
As for the double fall theory. There's some stuff that suggests it. At least Kylo Ren's redemption. The writer behind the novelization of TLJ stated that Ben Solo is essentially a "reverse Anakin". There's a lot of other evidence as well. This trailer had some interesting parallels with Anakin as well in terms of camera shots. Star Wars films have lots of rhythm and poetic themes between trilogies and it shows here again. I am feeling pretty confident that The Last Jedi will not feel like a remake of The Empire Strikes Back like how The Force Awakens felt like with A New Hope.

In fairness to the writers, you can't really have a sequel trilogy if there is nothing to fight (ie: the "balance" of the Force/good times/warm and fuzzies/sunshiney days whatever you want to call it going out of sync).
So to some degree a sequel trilogy by default was always going to in some ways invalidate the original trilogy, because all evil should've stopped at that point and the galaxy should've lived happily ever after, which means this trilogy would be about ... Rey helping Luke to decorate his house?
Better than trailer for FA. However, they all eat SWToR trailer dust. Especially Knights of the fallen Empire.
Hunting Season is done...

They are called Porgs and I believe they are native to Ahch-To. They were revealed a couple months back actually and the Star Wars fan base seems slightly split on them. There's speculation that Chewie is going to eat one of them and there's a behind the scenes picture of some feathers in his mouth.
And a children's book.
Apparently you can buy large stuffed animals of them along with a legion of other Porg toys that Disney plans to cash in on. If we're lucky we might even get a Star Wars: Porg Christmas Special.

First, yes. There is a reason George Lucas eventually gave up plans for sequels, because he knew the story was finished and it didn't make any sense to go on. But secondly... If they had to go on, there were a million better ways to do so. I'm sure Lucas himself probably proposed a direction that made more sense, before Disney just ditched it in favor of a "entire universe goes back 30 years in time" approach. I'm no writer or some crazy storyteller to begin to list the million better stories they could have gone with, but I can tell you if one thing's for sure, it's that the Empire taking over again and Han Solo becoming Han Solo again and Luke giving up on everything and everything going to shit in 30 years was not the only way to continue. In fact, the prequel trilogy is a great example of one (of many) different direction Star Wars could be taken in, without sacrificing its integrity at all - I don't care what purists might say on it, the prequels were absolutely fine artistically and actually added a lot to the universe and felt unique without losing identity. They had bad writing, directing and acting, yes, but that doesn't mean they didn't have good ideas. |
Actually from what I've read a good chunk of what is in Episode VII is basically off of Lucas' treatment (ie: Han Solo going back to being a smuggler).
Lucas didn't give up his plans either, he wrote a full treatment for Episode VII, which Micahel Arndt did a draft around. Disney decided to give the reigns to JJ Abrams but a lot of that treatment is apparently still part of The Force Awakens.
I smell another turd, but since I consider TFA the worst SW movie and this looks (so far) a smidge better, maybe it will not turn out as worst SW movie.

I just want her related to Obi-wan
And I see the movie being more of a mix of Empire and Sith.
The Kylo being a reverse Anakin is interesting. He is going backwards XD from full armor in TFA, to ditching his helmet in TLJ, and then in 9, he will be naked v.v XD but nah, itd be cool if by reverse Anakin that they mean he'll become good
