The stupidity of it all is just 40 years prior, Luke and Anakin brought the entire force into balance. The fact that it was totally undone in such a short amount of time makes the enitre importance of bringing it into balance kind of pointless. Like, who cares? It's just going to keep going out of balance every couple decades or so.
The writers for this new trilogy really shit on the original three and fucked everything up lore-wise.
