They are called Porgs and I believe they are native to Ahch-To. They were revealed a couple months back actually and the Star Wars fan base seems slightly split on them. There's speculation that Chewie is going to eat one of them and there's a behind the scenes picture of some feathers in his mouth. 
And a children's book. 
Apparently you can buy large stuffed animals of them along with a legion of other Porg toys that Disney plans to cash in on. If we're lucky we might even get a Star Wars: Porg Christmas Special.
