So are you just pulling numbers out of your ass or do you have an actual article to back your claim up?  I highly doubt these units cost more than $50 for the licenses of 3rd party games, manufacture and shipping of the units.

I heard it on Spawn Wave's live stream. He's able to get the distributor cost of items. The distributor cost of the SNES Classic was $77, he was remarking that with shipping retailers don't make money SNES Classic, they just stock becuase it will get people into their stores. It gives them a chance to sell them something else.

Just because retailers aren't getting a large cut doesn't mean anything. Generally retailers don't make much of anything off game hardware to begin with. They stock them because they make money off accessories, games, etc.

Nintendo is making money on these things, probably a fair amount too. No way is that chipset more than $25 a pop IMO.

My Nintendo rep.... Not two.

There is a crappy ad that is making it hard to post.

Here in Brazil it is listed for 350 dollars. The SNES Mini.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Fair point. Just because the retailers are breaking even doesn't NIntendo isn't making money.

Nintendo have really struck gold with the Minis. Not an entirely fair comparison, but if they can keep up with demands the SNES Mini could be the best selling console this holiday

Yea, I'm not going to believe some dick fuck from youtube.  Produce an actual article or I'll never believe.  What are they using for their boards in there anyways, raspberry pis?  Acting like this is some expensive product.

First of all Spawn Wave isn't some "dick fuck". Second of all, I was corrected by Soundwave on this. He listed the distributor cost. It is what the distributors are charging retailers. It's not the cost of manufacture.

Its the exact same board that was in the NES Classic.  Nintendo wasn't losing money on the NES Classic at $60.  They are including 2 controllers instead of 1 but extra controller cost is less than 10 dollars.  Basically they kept everything the same besides the shell and controllers.

So basically Nintendo kind of lied when they said they halted production in Spring.  Yes, they halted producing the plastic shells and controller for the NES Classic but they didn't halt production of the boards.  They just merely switched over from the NES to the SNES production.

They're making good money with this. Not a lot of hardware in there. That R16 chip is worth around 5 dollars... probably the most expensive part of the system.

Those controllers probably cost 2-3 dollars each. Link

Yeah exactly, IMO Nintendo is taking home an easy $20+ per unit I would say. At the volumes Nintendo is ordering in (NES Classic + SNES Classic combined in all territories) they're likely getting a very low cost on the chip, which is probably why they moved to including two controllers with the SNES Classic.
