I disagree with them putting her in prison for her words in general and for how long they gave her. That could set a nasty precedent.

It really doesn't. You're already not allowed to incite harm on others with words. Ie Manson Murders.

I'm sure she wasn't being as literal as manson was. Sure, she was being a cunt saying that stuff to him but that's not a criminal offense in my opinion.

They've never went after someone like this over words that i know of. They've been going after people for supposed hate speech for a couple of years now so yes this stuff is setting a precedent of things we won't like much in the future.

Lol

Aeolus451: right.. thats like someone saying "go kill yourself" (or what they really mean is "**** off") and they kill themselves leading to their arrest. I know thats not the case, but its terrible that words can put you in jail

So, you think Manson shouldn't have gone to jail?  I mean, all he did was tell people to kill.  He didn't do it himself.

The bitch actually told the guy to get back in the car and that it would be better if he were dead.  And this wasn't on one occassion, where it is common sense that the person doesn't literally mean it.  She actually goaded a mentally ill person into killing himself after months of persuasion.

Roy: "i don't want anyone hurt in the process though"
Roy: "I meant when they open the door, all the carbon monoxide is gonna come out they can't see it or smell it. whoever opens the door"
Carter: "They will see the generator and know that you died of CO. . . ."
----
Roy: "hey can you do me a favor"
Carter: "Yes of course"
Roy: "just be there for my family :)"
Carter: "Conrad, of course I will be there for your family. I will help them as much as I can to get thru this, ill tell them about how amazing their son/brother truly was"
----
Roy: "Idk I'm freaking out again"
Roy: I'm overthinking"
Carter: "I thought you wanted to do this. The time is right and you're ready, you just need to do it! You can't keep living this way. You just need to do it like you did last time and not think about it and just do it babe. You can't keep doing this every day"
Roy: "I do want to. but like I'm freaking for my family. I guess"
Roy: "idkkk"
Carter: "Conrad. I told you I'll take care of them. Everyone will take care of them to make sure they won't be alone and people will help them get thru it. We talked about this, they will be okay and accept it. People who commit suicide don't think this much and they just do it"

July 12, 2014

In these exchanges on the day before his body was found, Roy expresses more hesitation about his plan.
Carter: "So I guess you aren't gonna do it then, all that for nothing"
Carter: "I'm just confused like you were so ready and determined"
Roy: "I am gonna eventually"
Roy: "I really don't know what I'm waiting for. . but I have everything lined up"
Carter: "No, you're not, Conrad. Last night was it. You keep pushing it off and you say you'll do it but u never do. Its always gonna be that way if u don't take action"
Carter: "You're just making it harder on yourself by pushing it off, you just have to do it"
Carter: "Do u wanna do it now?"
Roy: "Is it too late?"
Roy: "Idkk it's already light outside"
Roy: I'm gonna go back to sleep, love you I'll text you tomorrow"
Carter: "No? Its probably the best time now because everyone's sleeping. Just go somewhere in your truck. And no one's really out right now because it's an awkward time"
Carter: "If u don't do it now you're never gonna do it"
Carter: "And u can say you'll do it tomorrow but you probably won't"
---
Carter: "You just need to do it Conrad or I'm gonna get you help"
Carter: "You can't keep doing this everyday"
Roy: "Okay I'm gonna do it today"
Carter: "Do you promise"
Roy: "I promise babe"
Roy: "I have to now"
Carter: "Like right now?"
Roy: "where do I go? :("
Carter: "And u can't break a promise. And just go in a quiet parking lot or something."
Nah, she was being pretty literal.

Actually, yes, she did mean it.  This wasn't on a one or two occasions where she was being a bitch.  She convinced him to do it.  And when he backed out halfway through it, she convinced him it would be better for him to finish the job.  She's not a bitch.  She's another Manson.  Just not on the same scale.  Yet.

To incide suicide is a crime on most countries AFAIK, OP, either as an autonomous crime or as a form of homicide, I'm not sure why you are that surprised.

And well, words have always had the potential to put you to jail. There is the crime of threat of violence to begin with, and also injury / outrage, not quite sure how do you call it on english. Go proclaim to everyone you are going to kill the president, or do something like deny the holocaust, for instance. The possibilities are endless here, and vary depending on the nation.

Besides, I'm sure any decent criminal justice do take into consideration both intent and result before determining a punishment, so rest assured here. Of course, some more severe crimes, such as crimes against life, can be punished on result alone, unless they derive from error or the one directly responsible was effectively weaponized by another influence or circumstance.

If anything her sentence is very light.

Do you really think that words don't put people in jail??

Words have always put people in jail.

You should probably look into it dude, it seems like you haven't and you'll probably change your tune.

She was VERY literal. He was extremely hesitant and would say he didn't want to do it then she would get him back on track and continue to encourage him and tell him to kill himself.

This law is really nothing new. You're not allowed to incite violence or hatred that leads to violence with your words.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

It's sick to encourage someone to kill themselves. She might be right that she hasn't actually broken a law though. What she did doesn't sound like 'involuntary manslaughter' to me. If they can get her on something though, it would be good to have her off the streets for a while.

If she knew he was suicidal and told him to go kill himself, then yeah, that's involuntary manslaughter.
