Forums - Nintendo - BotW's Hyrule Castle is absolutely mindblowing.

Why do people skeep going about trying to justify this game as godly or even great when it is so obviously just an above mediocre, good solid game. People are looking at it it like it is some sort of art house piece on the modern open world, have you lot even played an open world game in the last 10 years...an rpg? The game is good, the castle is a good version of Hyrule castle for what it is but it is still just that, Good. I fail to see the greatness and gave up trying after putting a lot of time and effort into it, TTP still the greatest Zelda. Many, many other open world games and Rpgs still vying for the best.

Different tastes, I suppose. I've played several open-world games in the last few years, and after playing BOTW they all feel... restrictes. The freedom you have to do anything, however you want, is unparalelled. That's actually what I think it's the best opn-world game ever made. Are there open-world games that have a better plot graphics? Sure. But I feel BOTW's gameplay, freedom and scale is what makes it special. It's a matter of tastes in the end, though

Well, sure, what's best or good is always subjective. With BOTW a lot of people though agree this is absolutely great. This doesn't mean you're wrong, this means your tastes in this case slightly differ from a lot of people. What is fine, as it makes us all individual. In other cases my tastes differ, but this time in the group of praise bringers.

Hyrule Castle in BOTW is probably how Hidemaro and Aonuma envision dungeons in future, I can see future games maintaining the freedom of BOTW while having a few optional dungeon areas like BOTW's Hyrule Castle.

The joys of everyone having their own opinion on what is great and what isn't.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Hyrule castle was great, the first time exploring there anyway. Second time around, 60 hours later while going to the boss, it felt a lot less special. It mostly stands out as its the only real dungeon in the game.

The open world design didn't work all that well for Hyrule castle. I got in the 'wrong' way and explored it backwards. Which took some of the magic away, entering at the dining hall and exploring towards the entrances, backtracking on the mine cart path and harbor. It was still a great place to explore, yet would have like more. It's like Fallout only having one Vault to explore. However with over 170 hours play time, who cares :) The 3 mazes took the place of dungeon exploration.

"Because of all of this, this place ends up feeling more like an actual dungeon than any of the Divine Beasts, and its menacing and labyrinthic nature makes it actually more of an actual dungeon than anything we've had in the past two decades of Zelda."

You said it, mZuzek. It definitely has that classic dungeon feel. Fighting through Hyrule Castle was one of the most amazing experiences in a game overlowing with amazing experiences. The intensity is unmatched. Like you, I could gush about it for pages :)

Okay...I like Hyrule Castle, I didn't find it to be all that though.

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I really don't understand why the other dungeons in the game are not similar to Hyrule castle. Hyrule Castle is the most fun I've ever had in a video game. It's absolutely beautiful. It's really well designed, challenging and has the greatest music ever. Nintendo pleaaase, give us some more of that!!!!!

Agreed, it's a masterpiece. That music, it's just so damn killer. Who would have thought to put Ballad of the Wind Fish and Zelda's Lullaby together for a final dungeon theme?!? The infiltration of the castle was one of the most badass pats of any game. Especially if you go in there fully geared and have no mercy for the guardians. It was the closest thing to a "traditional" Zelda dungeon that we got in the whole game.

No one's trying to "justify" anything. I'm not blindly praising this game as godly in an attempt to deny myself the "truth" that it sucks, I'm actually praising it because I think it is a masterpiece. I admit I haven't played a lot of open world games, but to be honest the reason for that is just because mostly I don't have a lot of fun with them, so the fact I love Breath of the Wild as much as I do is a testament to how good its take on the genre is. If anything, the fact you think TP of all games is the best Zelda just proves your opinion is wrong (and hey, it's okay to be wrong, life's all about that).

I see a bunch of people also boiling it down to just design, come on guys. The iconic design is definitely part of what makes Hyrule Castle awesome to me, but there's a lot more to it than that. I genuinely think this area is the easily the best part of the game, and in a game this good, that does mean something else.
