Hyrule castle was great, the first time exploring there anyway. Second time around, 60 hours later while going to the boss, it felt a lot less special. It mostly stands out as its the only real dungeon in the game.
The open world design didn't work all that well for Hyrule castle. I got in the 'wrong' way and explored it backwards. Which took some of the magic away, entering at the dining hall and exploring towards the entrances, backtracking on the mine cart path and harbor. It was still a great place to explore, yet would have like more. It's like Fallout only having one Vault to explore. However with over 170 hours play time, who cares :) The 3 mazes took the place of dungeon exploration.
