If they only release it on Switch 1, only on Switch 2, or cross gen: "That's what we meant the whole time!"

My bet is a cross gen release. But I don't think there is any hidden hints for the successor in that announcement

Pokemon's official channels report that the game is coming to "Nintendo Switch systems". That sounds like it will be a B/C release.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 160 million (was 120 million, then 140 million, then 150 million)

PS5: 130 million (was 124 million)

Xbox Series X/S: 54 million (was 60 million, then 57 million)

Not necessarily. Twilight princess for GC could also be played through Wii's BC but it didn't stopped them to release both versions. They are not going to spill the other platform that is not announced yet

Nintendo apparently is fighting back against potential Switch 2 scalpers.

I agree.
There's nothing wrong with releasing for both platforms. I'm just saying that their wording, missing the holiday, and announcing 2025 makes it seem like it will arrive on the Switch and the successor at the same time.

Of course they wont tell us about the new console. That isn't The Pokémon Company's job, that's Nintendo's job. I figure that they'll start to give info (patents, leaks, name, specs) throughout this year and announce it near October 2024 to release it in March 2025.

What I am trying to say is that I find very unlikely they slipped something about Switch's successor on that announcement.

Yes, there's strong indications by the time they release the game could coincide with the next console, so the chances of being cross gen are very high.

But there's nothing in the wording of that announcement that give away some hint about that system. The "Switch(s)" could be very much referring to all Switch models and "Releasing worldwide simultaneously" is definitely about making the game available for every region at the same moment.

Now I am confused by what you mean by B/C release? It really got me thinking that is something about the game only being available to the next console by Backwards Compatibility.

Hopefully Legends Z-A won't be a technical disaster like Scarlet/Violet.
They need to let this one cook, and the fact they're not rushing it out to meet their usual annual pace is promising.

If it's Switch 2, it probably will be rough. That studio has not demonstrated the ability to understand newer gaming engines well. They have had over a decade to perfect working on Wii U/Switch level hardware (which were pretty close to each other) and yet we still got the Scarlett/Violet stuff near the end.

I'd be stunned if they were suddenly competent now.

As in it releases on Switch, and the only way to play it on the Successor is via the Switch release. Theory: Legends Z-A releases on Switch the same day the successor arrives (or sometime after, but still considered a launch for successor). So there wont be a successor release since it is (or at least rumored) backward compatible.

Yeah, I saw that message and got excited lol

So a funny question my fellow club nintendo members. Do you think it is better for one to collect game boy, game boy color, or game boy advance these days?
