Looking at @BasilZero only reminds me how I need to get into more DQ games in the future. Was almost finished with DQ IV(DS) a year back and I have the intention to play DQV and XI when I'm too much into other games.

I got to the end of DQV on SNES back in the 1990s.

It was right around the time I had the horrible behavior where I would get to the end of a game but never finish it (Earthbound, Paladin's Quest, Dragon Quest V and Secret of Mana lol).

Speaking of which...I finished Earthbound so I need to finish the other three games.

Got that habit back in 2017 when I was playing multiple games at the time. Never again ...

Earthbound heh ... Thankfully I finished Mother 3 in a week because the experience was just too good.

As for Earthbound and Beginnings I'm personally waiting for the unofficial remake of the first game, Mother Encore, before playing it again. The original emulation I did of it kicked my ass hard while I didn't know what was my goal in all this and loosing myself on its map haha.

Yeah Earthbound is one of those games where you can easily get lost (though to my own experience, I explored every part so I didnt mind it lol).

But damn, I'm tempted to play the game again - might do another run on NSO version.

The last time I played Earthbound was like 5+ years ago.

Never really got into Beginnings, its on NSO too right? I might try it out as well.

Welp it's moreso that I only played Earthbound Beginnings at first on emulation and the experience put me off so hard that I didn't play another Mother game until I played Mother 3,which was was an instant phenomenal classic in my book.

So I don't know if you can get lost in Earthbound's map buuut the philosophy of those games back then were in part due to the fact that you had to speak to the NPC's for the relevant info you needed to progress.

I was not able to do that back then because my English sucked at the time so I couldn't understand what was said and I had no patience once I got stuck once. + 15 years later certainly does the difference heh xD

As long as it's not like the Koopa air ships, those are a pain in the ass. Never sit still long enough to be boarded so you can incapacitate the captain. -_-

I think I did try out beginnings on NES emulator too but dropped it as well (in the beginning hah).

Been revisiting Monster Hunter Rise for the first time in a long time, and holy cow I almost forgot how awesome this game is.

A full fledged modern MH for Switch was probably my #1 dream game for the console and they absolutely delivered on it. Best of all, the player base is still very healthy it seems as I had no trouble finding people to play with.

Played through Star Ocean: The Second Story R. Really enjoyed it.

Im going to play Live A Live soon as well. Quite the JRPG start of the year for me with these and Octopath Traveler 2. Think Im starting to really appreciate the genre finally:)

The remake productions and most of their AA productions they've been doing this gen is honestly something of a passing moment looking at how they said they wanted to restructure their productions again.

Hope we keep getting these projects in the future. So many good RPG's and next year is looking good with FFVII Rebirth, Vision of Mana and SaGa Beyond Emerald !

Also the HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest 3 could be interesting. Really looking forward to Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Will probably be my favorite JRPG of this year.
