I'm staying up late tonight for the show so I'll be joining you fine gents for an extra three hours where I'd normally be asleep.
Just hoping for some exciting new games; a first party surprise or two, some cool third party ports, that'd be fine. I don't expect the greatest show on Earth, just give me something to look forward to beyond the current slate.

Most pointless Switch 2 release goes to Square Enix!

FFX/X2 is getting a Switch 2 version, with no upgrade path and on a key card. It's still 30fps like every other version and save data between SW1 and SW2 version is incompatible.

The only advantage you're gonna get is presumably 4k on the TV instead of 1080p, but handheld the original SW1 version should run at 1080p with boost mode.

Should have just been a patch lol.

Yeah, I'm done with FF7 Rebirth, what a fucking disappointment.

I signed up for an epic JRPG adventure, not endless shitty minigames and filler. The tropical resort chapter was just so awful I just couldn't take it any more and quit. Forcing the player to do tedious chores to trade for beach clothes was too much for me, I ain't wasting my limited game time on that shit.

It's a shame cos there's a genuinely good game in there, but its buried beneath layers of rubbish.

Oh my ... The filler/mini games that were expanded in this version really are this invasive to the overall experience ?

Considering the original paved the way for such in JRPG, makes it weird to think they would force you head on into the padding ...

Yeeaaa ... Saw the trailer which boggled me why this wasn't 60fps to begin with ? Emulation issue ? So basically, it seems fine to just have the Switch original version instead, got it 👍

I guess your mileage may vary and maybe JRPG fans love this stuff, but for me, being forced to play annoying minigames at a tourist resort to win tickets to buy a swimsuit so I can go to the beach is not what I want out of an epic world-saving RPG adventure.

The game just kept forcing me to play dumb minigames and wade through long sections of tedious filler, and I just don't have the patience for all that when my gaming time is limited and I have so many other countless games I could be playing instead.

I feel you there. Nothing wrong feeling that way about any game really since it's your own time that you're spending there.

There's definitely a case to be made that the brevity of some of these sections in the OG FF-VII served it's purpose better than the elongated version of the remakes.

It's a shame too cos the core combat, music, graphics, etc are excellent, and when I was actually fighting enemies and progressing the story I was having a great time. I also really enjoyed the first game, FF7 Remake, as that didn't have nearly as much filler.

If part 3 can trim the fat, I'd definitely consider getting it, but Rebirth just wasn't for me, I like my steak without all the fat.

It's only 30fps even on PC so the game logic must be tied to framerate, meaning they can't unlock the framerate without it speeding up the game. They'd have to go through the code fixing a lot.

So yeah, the Switch 1 version is completely fine unless you're really desperate for higher resolution when docked.

Edit: The Switch 2 version does add the speed up and no random encounters options from the PC version. So it does slightly more than just a docked res boost.

I hope if the Ocarina of Time remake is real they don't go the FF VII route. OoT (much like og FF VII) is already a pretty complete game that doesn't exactly suffer from "lack" of content.

Just make the same game, but better and polishing what could be fleshed out or what has become clunky and obsolete. There is no need for filler.

Let's get crazy:

- Golden Sun (remaster or new)
- Monolith Soft game (Xeno or whathever)
- Wario Land
- 3D Mario
- New Kyle Hyde game
- Astral Chain 2
- Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 3 (fuck OG FFT, Advance was always better)
- Kingdom Hearts IV trailer and Switch 2 confirmation along with all the previous games getting native ports
- DELTARUNE Chapter 5 release date
- Metroid 6/Prime 2 and 3 Remasters
- New traditional 3D Zelda (no more BotW style nor OoT remake please)
- Xenoblade 1, 2 and 3 Switch 2 Editions

Ok. Got a big plate of pizza rolls, put a fake meeting on my schedule so nobody will bother me. My body is Reggie.
