It's crazy to think that in this single week, we've gotten: Rayman Legends Retolds + Origins Enhanced, Cuphead 2 + Cuphead 8-bit, Stellar Blade 2, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Resident Evil Veronica, Gundam, Star Wars X XCOM, Dragon Quest XII, and sooo much more. A lot of literal dream-come-true reveals. Here's to looking forward to the Xbox and Nintendo presentations this upcoming week! The Direct will be the main event for me... crazy to think that we're only halfway through SGF. Still waiting on Persona 6, Sonic, perhaps a peek at a new Spyro/Crash game, OoT remake, and all the other rumored Nintendo projects.

It's a good week for gaming announcements. And this is coming off of the release of tons of super acclaimed games (007 First Light, Mina the Hollower, Forza Horizon 6, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, FFVII Rebirth NS2/XBSXS, Bubsy 4D, etc.). Oh! And don't forget Call of Duty's return to Nintendo systems as well as Monster Hunter Rise's announced arrive onto NS2.

Man I gotta say, while I am enjoying FF7 Rebirth as the combat, production values, music, etc are all excellent, holy moly they weren't kidding when they said it has a lot of padding.

I'm 7 hours in and despite pretty much mainlining the critical story path and avoiding side activities, apparently I'm only like 20% of the way through the story so far. They really could have cut down a bit on some of the cutscenes and minigames, I played for an hour and a half tonight and barely progressed the story just cos I spent so much of that time churning through filler.

Still a good game, but I hope Part 3 is more streamlined.

I'd argue that's because it's side content relies on mostly a padding that doesn't align with the game's themes, nor does feel primordial to the experience but it does what it needs to give a way to gateway progressions to the player, so it feels frustrating to do so for some.

I've actually been avoiding the side stuff; I just played the part where you have to march in the parade to get close to the Shinra president, and the whole process was just so insanely padded out: find a disguise, practise the marching minigame, wander around finding all the members of the 7th infantry, watch a cutscene, do the marching minigame three times, watch another cutscene, play another minigame as Yuffie... it was just just ridiculous how such a simple sequence was strectehd out into like an hour plus of busywork and time wasting.
