Furukawa has stated in an interview that going forward the number of Nintendo Directs will be reduced and more announcements will be done via the Nintendo Today app and Nintendo News channel on the Switch and Switch 2 at more random timings as opposed to scheduled NDs. Interesting shift for the company who pioneered the Direct in general which in turn went on to topple the era of event based announcement news as many companies switched to the format which contributed massively to the fall of media event E3.

(Source?) Also, assuming true, then good. No surprise especially coming off the September 2025 meltdown.

Sure, and I cough up frogs when I eat too much cheese.

I think Nintendo is giving some room for its remaining releases of the 1st semester(+July) to shine.

Probably a week or two after Splatoon release, we will see a full Direct dropping the bombs for the rest of the year

We reap what we sow

It definitely is time for them to start dropping those bombs; so far they've been able to get away with a fairly lightweight slate cos of how much pent-up demand there was for Switch 2 after its predecessor's extremely long lifespan and how much people loved Switch 1, but with the price hike coming up, they're going to need to show people why the Switch 2 is worth $500, and that's gonna take more than the mid sized + nuche stuff they've announced so far.

Furukawa has already promised a “robust software lineup” in order to justify the new price tag. I’d imagine Nintendo is hiding their cards in order to best ease the blow back of increasing hardware prices.

That said: OoT Remake is almost certainly coming in October/November. Not too close to the price hike so as to not merely get everyone on board prior to the hikes, but not too far off so as to regain momentum for the holiday.

Wow! Famitsu gave Yoshi a 39!! That’s one of the highest ratings ever given to a Nintendo game, let alone a Switch 2 exclsuive.

Being that I’m without any REM sleep today (due to a 31 hour travel from Ireland to Texas), I think today would make the perfect day for a chill little platformer. Yoshi actually arrived a day esrly through Amazon. Very eager to dig my teeth into this today!!

In case anybody is looking for some updated Nintendo Switch 1 quarterly hardware shipment data, I did decide to take it upon myself this morning to update the Fandom page. It breaks down shipment data by region, model (NS1-OG, NS1-Lite, NS1-OLED), and quarter.

Also, I've decided to push my Yoshi/Bubsy gaming session to this weekend— Saturday, Sunday, and (if needed) Monday will be when I sink my teeth into these two games. Actually just got Bubsy 4D and Demon Tides installed via Steam onto my PC. Really looking forward to it!

Grabbed Tales of Arise; onto the backlog of doom it goes. Also picked up Blood: Refreshed Supply as it was on sale and I love retro FPS.

My Switch 1 is still living a second life as my machine for indies and other non-demanding titles like Blood, while I save my Switch 2 for actual next gen stuff.

Got Marvel VS Capcom Fighting Collection for my birthday. Three guesses to what my favorite game in this compilation is.
