The highlights so far for me were Mario x Rabbits, Spiderman and Anthem

Spiderman is a tad iffy though due to the amount of Quicktime events it had. But otherwise it felt like Arkham City Spiderman basically, which is a great thing.

Anthem looked super awesome, but have no interest in it at same time. Being a shooter/online heavy game means I'll pass. But can't deny it looked amazing. Made me think of like Xenoblade Chronicles X made for high tech hardware. Flying around mech like.

Mario x Rabbids. Looked amazing. Complete out of left field shocker for me. I love SRPG type games and this looks cool. I just hope it has a good story to go alone with it.

I mentioned this in the rating the Sony conference thread, but this is an in-between year for games. There can't always be a whole host of huge exclusive heavy hitters waiting in the wings for E3. Especially after 2015 and 2016, where Sony in particular went all in each time, going so far as announcing The Last of Us 2 as the closer to E3 2016 despite the fact that it was so early development, it didn't even show this year.

Microsoft is making their slow and steady exit from the console market, with the Xbox One X basically being their acting transition from console to PC gaming. The lack of focus of new games really solidified that this year. I wouldn't expect a major E3 from them ever again. They're trying to expand the Games for Windows 10 platform, and the Xbox brand as a console is a stepping stone for making that happen.

EA always has the same things with maybe one or two surprises, while Bethesda still really does not need a big stage for what they have to show. The fact that Skyrim for the Switch got stage time should prove that beyond a doubt. Ubisoft actually did okay this year. No real cringe except for the performance for Just Dance 2018. Even they were pretty dependent on Assassin's Creed to carry the show and filled a lot of show time with fluff talking due to lack of games and trailers.

2018 will be another big year for game announcements as we see what is coming going into 2019 and beyond, but E3 2017 was the result of having blown all the big announcements at E3 2016 for everything to expect going into 2018.

There can if you stop announcing games over a year in advance.

Ubisoft was very solid. Not sure what you're talking about. Sony wasn't going above and beyond, but it still felt like a 7/10 performance.

The issue I think is the way EA, Bethesda, Microsoft, and others made their e3. Besides the issues with what was in their presentation, they sometimes focused on irrelevant things

I think everyone should take Nintendo's new route. We saw in the April direct how efficient it is. Regarding what people thought of the content, the presentation was a 10/10. Fast, straight to the point, and gameplay is saved for the treehouse.

Ubisoft had a great E3, Sony was ok, Microsoft and Bethesda were bad, and EA was terrible. It's all on Nintendo now.

I'd rather know why video-game fans whine so much. It's really disappointing and makes me want to distance myself. If it's not childish entitlement because a game being shown might not be for them, then it's someone claiming that they can't enjoy game video because there aren't enough "surprises". I mean, yeah, I know that a lot of the people online are young enough to have a legitimate claim on being immature but I also tend to have higher expectations for this place than IGN or Youtube comments. At least until E3 comes around, anyway.

I liked both Sony and Microsoft.

Only saw some of EA and none of Bethesda or Ubisoft.

Sony while disappointing was still decent but Microsoft really drop the ball and I wouldn't be surprised if end up in third place by the end of the Xbox One's life thanks to that conference.

I don't understand this statement.

Microsoft showed a tonne of games, perhaps more than Sony, and more new exclusives.

There are plenty of reasons MS could wind up third, but that conference certainly wasn't demonstrably worse than Sony's, and I'd argue it was better.

The problem is, what AAA games did Microsoft actually announce? Forza 7, a hugely established IP that was basically guaranteed to be at E3? A trailer for Crackdown 3 that was met with mixed reception? A trailer reel of indie games, that, lets face it, most of us are going to forget about within the week anyways? Time spent on multiplats for no other reason than to say "LOOK GUYS XBOX ONE X PLS BUY IT"?

Sony's conference was undeniably stronger, even if it wasn't exactly The Hulk of E3 conferences. I can't see defending Microsoft anymore when they clearly are not invested in the games anymore. They care about hardware and game platform software. To be fair though, we all should have seen it coming a mile away when we look back at the original announcement for the Xbox One and see Microsoft's original vision for their media box. They wanted to make a console that was more of a straight up computer. The gaming community didn't welcome that though as so drastic a change, so it has been done more gradually instead. The days of Microsoft caring about procuring specific IPs and game development are long gone.

Thats why I didn't mention Ubisoft. But otherwise, its been a bit miss.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Yeah, all conferences have been really meh. I don't expect much from Nintendo.

I feel where you're coming from, but as much as i love the game Sony has, it's all 2018 or no dates (days gone, detroit) and this is their second or third conferences. Sony and companies in general have got to stop announcing stuff soooo far in advance. It's really frustrating.
