"While true that mass effect hasn't been a huge franchise it's not fair comparing it to a series that got around 5 million sales from bundles"

The "around" makes it sound like the number isn't certain - but it is around that area. One that you would need a source for.

Otherwise you are just guessing. Yet no where in your statement did you state you were guessing, assuming, or estimating.

Thus your statement sounded like an unequivocal statement.

There is a large difference between "I think since the series has been bundled alot it is around 5 million" and "the series is around 5 million sales".

One makes it clear you are estimating/guessing and one comes off as an attempt at a fact.

when I use the word around in that context it mean it could be less than, equal to, or more than 5 million. Hence I do not know... thus guessing. I'll make sure that whenever I estimate/guess about anything Sony related that I state it's a guess/est. and not an 'attempt at a fact'.

In this context definition of around is approximately

the definition of approximately is roughly

i don't think I need a source to say something along those lines. I've been following game sales for 10 years and the series has been bundled a lot in that time(nothing wrong with that, great games). That's my source I guess

Anyway that's getting way off topic.  I hope andromeda keeps doing well on the charts. I know a lot of people out there want it and bioware in general to fail but I love their games and want them to succeed.

You originally didn't make it clear but now you have told us you've pulled the numbers from your butt so let's move on. Don't push the blame on other people  for not understanding you when you leave what you say  open to be interpreted.

The PS5 Exists.

I don't think the demo helped Mass Effect at all. It's why we had so many memes, piss-taking videos and poor previews.

I expect it to drop massively second week.

I'm going to move my question down here to get it out of the drama from up there.

How much do you think the EA access demo helped or hurt the sales?

I can see it helping because people were able to play the game and see if all the reviews were true or not. If playing the game and "disagreeing" with the reviews you would go ahead and buy it.

And of course if they play the demo and hated it, they wouldn't have gotten the game. Then again that is true of all demos.

Is a "paid" demo really any different than a free one though? Does it being 10 hours long make it better at selling the game or hurting it?

I was going to buy the game anyway but would have waited but aftyer loving the trial i bought it day one and that discount that EA gave was nice too.

I don't think ea access is that big honestly. Some gaf "insiders where saying only around(there's that word again lol, so I assume their estimation) 1 million subs. Which I'm inclined to agree with. When looking at the leaderboards on Sunday there where only 200k people who had played a mp match, so just guessing I'd double that number and say 400k people played it.  Overall I'd say it helped a fair bit of those 400k or so people decide to buy the game. i don't think enough played it to have a noticeable change on sales.

In my opinion, mass effect lends itself more to the Xbox side(mostly because it was a console exclusive for a long time) so I think it will sell better on Xbox in the US and U.K., obviously not anywhere else tho. I think something like 1.25-1.5 sales on PS4 for every one on Xbox. People might think that's because of ea access later but i don't think so.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

People beat Zelda, and are like "now what?" and get MK8D.

I suspect the sales for MK8D are gonna be quite good, which is great for nintendo, alot of these will lead to nintendo online subscriptions.

i would have think it helped the sales more than hurt it. i doubt its a bad game, it just seems it isnt fantastic. usually when people see the 75~ score or something around that, they think its a bad game. if they tried it, and liked it, they dont even need to love it, they will most likely buy it.
