Forums - Sony - FFVII Remake Not In full Production Yet, Might Be Next-Gen (RUMOUR)

What have we wanted since 2005? Final Fantasy Versus 13 and a Final Fantasy 7 remake. We only even want the remake because Square, themselves, showed the tech demo.

Now, in 2017, we only just got FF Versus 3 aka FFXV, and now Final Fantasy 7 is possibly getting pushed? Like....why?

They gave us two FFXIII sequels that nobody asked for. They're doing hella remasters. But they can't dedicate their time to make the one other thing people have been clamoring for for over a decade?

The majority of Triple A publishers are 2 of 3 things: tone deaf, idiots and/or contemptuous.  Choose whichever two for whichever company you like but keep in mind SE's open hatred for consumers is extensive and well documented.

Square seriously needs to stop this. FFXV got messed up because of rough development, story, combat etc kept changing. they never had a clear vision of the game they wanted to make. so 10 years after the official announcement they had to release it in a unfinished state. this makes me really worried about this remake.

We are not getting this game in the next 10 years, are we?

Kitase went on to make a comment about raising the quality bar "part way through Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s episodic release if a new generation of consoles is released."

I expect FF7 R, FF7 R-II and FF7 R-III will be released over three years, when they talk about an episodic game I think it'll be more akin to a full trilogy of games, they're gonna milk this, and due to the long release schedule it's not a surprise that PS5 may launch before the third entry is thrown out.

We'll see the first game/episode released before the release of PS5 easily.

2018- FF7R: Episode One

2019 - FF7R: Episode Two

2020 - FF7R: Episode Three

PS5 will launch either November 2019 or November 2020.

I really don`t see a point in fans requesting a remake, to begin with. The original game is out there already and the time and resource used to make this could be applied in an entirely new game. And this is sounding pretty awful now. First it was announced it would be episodic to be able to deliver this is in reasonable timing, now we know the first episode will take a very long time to be done, and that they don`t know how much episodes it will require and how much would the time gap between episodes. It`s looking like S-E just announced anything so they could entice fans and then they would think about what to really do.

Good luck with waiting decades between episode 1 release and the final episode release. This is ridiculous. If they just did what Sony is doing with Crash Bandicoot and just keep the game the same with updated textures it would have been enough.

Easiest cashgrab. Which is why pretty much any profession does it. Movies, games, aplliances, even cars.

What I don`t understand about FF fans is this remake frenzy. Star Wars fans cringe with the idea of remakes and FF fans want it so badly that it looks like any newer entry is pretty much irrelevant. Same thing with Chrono Trigger. We don`t need a remake, we need a proper sequel to the series. FF VII is good as it is, just updating the textures and character models would have been more than enough.

The problem is: not even S-E knows what they are doing! If this comes out this decade I will be surprised, an after 2021`s release date is not impossible, and this is just ridiculuous. We may not even see a FF XVI this gen because of this non-sense of FF VII remake.

As a fan of FF, I don't want remakes. I want new games. stuff like FF7R or even the smaller updates for PS4 of PC port, just take time away from making new games. Plus in this case with ruin the memory. In the FF series, we've had 3 (not counting the MMO) in a decade. That's just sad for one of the most successful money making series ever.

If SquEnix has sense they'd churn them out like Assassin's Creed or CoD to make money, people might get sick of them but that's better than 3 in a decade (well, 14 years if you count the wait between 10 and 12) but they aren't doing that and that doesn't look like it'll change. We are down to 1 FF game per gen now and we just have to accept that.

Hmm, pie.

Sure. Especially if you're coaxing other publishers to come out and make them for you. That way you catch none of the flack if the product doesn't show up for a decade

Sad really, when you think about it. Games being announced that aren't even out by next E3, let alone this generation.

And yet if Nintendo doesn't announce games several years before release they get so much hate from some gamers.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

That is the biggest mistake they ever made with Zelda, I hope they never do it again. Ya, Nintendo gets flack for not doing it, and to be frank, I hope they continue not to do it. I am sick and tired of knowing games that won't be out for 2-10 years out.

Next Final Fantasy Versus XIII aka Final Fantasy XV confirmed! lol
