Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft Removes Snap From Xbone

OK, so I get home from work and notice I got the new dashboard update from the Preview Program. I like how you can just one press the Xbox button, instead of double tapping to get the guide open. Then I try to snap something. I usually like to snap TV while I play. I can't seem to figure out how to make the new guide snap. So I do a quick search on Google and this happened:

What? Why? That seems...dumb...

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I hated snap. I'm glad they got rid of it. But I will say that I know people that used it quite a bit.

Snap was the main feature I found interesting about the xbox one.

I'd love the ps4 to have it. Watching random youtube or TV shows while grinding? Fantastic.

I've never used it, so if it makes it a bit faster, that's cool

Not surprised they got rid of it. Pretty sure they've previously mentioned that their metrics showed barely anyone used it. I personally haven't used it once since 2014.

It's apparently getting replaced with PiP

Instead, Xbox looks to be exploring the possibility of a picture-in-picture multitasking implementation, where "snapped" app would simply hover in the corner of your game, rather than wiping out a quarter of your screen with a largely empty bar.

Example:

Also the new Xbox Achievement tracking pretty much does this now.

Nice! It's coming back and looks a lot better than the other one.
