Sometimes I really hate port beggars. It's always the PC-Only types begging for Sony or Nintendo to just go third party.

"There's only two games I want to play on that console, and paying $300 isn't worth it!"

Says the guy who spent $1000 on his tower, $400 on his monitor, and has a huge backlog of steam games he bought but never played.

PC has exclusives too, but you never hear console gamers whining about how something like the Total War series isn't on consoles.

If you can only think of two games, then you really need to get better taste in games.

With Switch in particular you gain the ability to play games on the go. That's worth $300 in the long run, since you make up lost gaming time by being able to play on the plane, or roadtrips.

"They would make more money if they went third party!"

Yeah, you don't know how first party sales work. First they make money from the actual game sale, and then they make money from the royalties of 3rd party games. The extra money from selling your first party games on PC can't compare to the money lost from moving less console units, by gong 3rd party.

"Why do fanboys care if some extra people get to play their games? It's a good thing that more people get to play these games."

It's not about denying people the ability to play games. It's about weakening brand power, which weakens the platform as a whole. Companies are in the business to make money, not cater to your every insignificant whim. If McDonalds gave out their food for free more people would get to eat McDonalds every day, but the company would lose a serious amount of money.

I just can't stand playing games at 30 FPS! Bring this game to PC!

30 FPS on a console =/= 30 FPS on a PC. Usually when a PC is running a game at 30 FPS that's just the average framerate with huge swings up or down. It's these huge swings in framerate that make 30 FPS on a PC look bad. Console games are usually optimized so they run at a more consistent 30 FPS.

Framerate doesn't matter for a lot of genres like Turn Based games.

Some games on consoles run at 60 FPS.

Get the Pro/X and have those games run at about 40-45 FPS then!

"I want TRUE 4K!"

4K is completely overrated. HDR with a good artstyle is way more important than 4K.

Still the best advice for Nintendo came from no other than Michael Pachter. When Nintendo was down with its Wii U he said it would be best for Nintendo to bring out their games to the other platforms because otherwise, their ip's will suffer and be forgotten over time. Once they come back with a successful console, they can go back to have their exclusives!

Good one Michael Pachter, that would be so consumer friendly. First you say to all the gamers: "Here, play our games on whatever platform you want." All these gamers who never played Nintendo IP's/long years ago since they owned a Nintendo platform are so happy and are eager to play the sequels of these fantastic IP's they learned to enjoy. But wait, here comes the hitch: Nintendo is back with a successful console and says: "*Beep* You! We are back in the game and if you want to paly our IP's you have to buy our new console, period!"

They won't go third party in our lifetime to be honest. Many many people who keep imagining the doom and gloom thing don't even realise how powerful a position the company is in behind the scenes; since July 2018, they've got like something around $4 Billion cash on hand (likely a lot more now!) to spend on general developement projects, production, literally anything they want. So they're basically safe to take risks on interesting yet very weird stuff like Labo, RingFit Adventure and who knows what else is to come in the future. It's said they can take heavy losses every year for like more than 30 years and still be in the clear (likely longer with how well recent games have sold!).

There's a reason a company is still running after 130 years and has survived many many failures in the past; they were a very weird company back in the early days before video games were a thing. Starting off as a card company, moving onto doing instant rice packs, love hotels, and a taxi service. They've been doing lots of different and strange stuff before, which has obviously transitioned when they went into video games.

I think Nintendo should go third-party, yes. Frankly, I think it makes no sense that Mario cannot sell to 2/3 of gamers unless they shell out $200 to $300 for hardware.

I'm in a decent financial position, so I don't mind buying Nintendo hardware just to play 5-6 games per generation. But, I know lots of gamers that would love to play BotW, Kart, and the like, but aren't willing or able to spend the money on hardware just to play those few games. I suppose one could say the same about any exclusive franchise (Halo comes to mind as one that tons of gamers would play if was available on other platforms). But, really, the Mario universe is the most important in gaming, and would sell like Hotcakes on XB and PS.

Now's the time to lobby MS and Sony to put a Switch inside the XSX and PS5 instead of a $100 hard drive.

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

I honestly prefer Nintendo hardware to PS/Xbox hardware.

Neither Sony nor Microsoft have bothered to keep using motion controls in a mainstream capacity, while on Switch I can enjoy motion input not only in first party titles but also in a lot of third party ones. They're also the only ones with a main controller that can be split, which I also prefer.

For me, it's not a matter of having to buy a Nintendo system to play a handful of first party games, but more a matter of having to consider maybe buying a PS/Xbox console to play a handful of games that aren't on Nintendo.

Cuphead and Ori are on switch. Horizon, Death Stranding and many more are coming to PC.

lol the irony of this thread.

The end 2016/beginning 2017 was such a shitstorm:

"Nintendo should go 3rd party" "Nintendo fans are dieing" "Nintendo fans are loyals apologists" "Nintendo screwing Wii U owners".

But somehow you can see users spilling out the nonsense that Nintendo threads are a peaceful and free trolling territory.

The narrative that Nintendo would thrive as 3rd party only is so stupid and is blatantly obvious the dishonest in this argument, when you all say Nintendo is full of shit and can't get right with their consoles, everyone with a brain can understand this speech as a punishment more than a solution: "Nintendo should step out and do a Sega bc is taking a space that should be filled by my favorite company, bc only my company can do it right"

If my only option was a custom PC tower with overhyped pumping/shining realistic graphics and many other visual shenanigans to hide mediocrity in games, then I would just stick with my regular PC and the lack of interest would make me barely use it.

Glad that time has passed and showed for those people who is actually full of shit.

And here we are, over 3 years later and Switch has sold nearly 60 million.
