PS4 doesn't need to win by 300k, 400k, 500k to be successful, if it hits 1.5m again this November then that is a great figure. Remember the situation is no different from last year, with popular PS4 Special Editions for Cod and Battlefront pushing sales into Novemeber just like the Pro has been this year. I'm not sure people realise just how good 1.5m in November is historically. BF in the US is far more important for Microsoft than Sony anyway.

As for who is doing better right now, it's hard to tell. X1 may have the next two bundles after the Slim, but that PS4 bundle is first and we don't know how much by. Saying X1 is therefore winning is pure guesswork. The next update to the monthly and yearly charts will tell us far more.

That wouldn't be really good. WW PS4 has been down since march, and its been down in the US for about 5 months.

That's not true. Shipments of the PS4 was up by 500k YoY in the quarter from april to june (3.5 million vs 3.0 million). It was down 100k in the quarter from july to september (3.9 million vs 4.0 million), which leaves us with a net year on year gain of 400k since the end of march.

Shipments aren't the same as sold to consumers. According to VGC, and NPD its been down for a while now.

You said worldwide since march. I think Sony's shipments are more accurating for judging that than VGC. NPD is, as you know, US only.

Seriously?

People, the personal insluts. Lets not.

Why this crap is still a thing?

The same TROLLING about Nintendo releasing games on mobile was impossible not a long time ago, the same nintendo who exited the home console business with its upcoming TABLET (FACT)

Or MS releaing their exclusives on PC. even on their compititor Steam (FACT)

But Nadella who buried Nokia alive, where mobile is way more important than consoles, will some how hold on xbox for some sentimental reasons???

The slim performance is detrimental for xbox future with a rational CEO

No profit brand = you die, Sony had demonstrated that already

Not true for MS. If Mobile was more important the consoles he would have got rid of it. Also MS console business has been doing pretty good due to Xbox Live, and games.

Well yeah Sony has shipped more consoles but we won't really know if the sold through to consumers are down YOY like VGC sales until Sony says something.

Hence why I'm using the actual numbers we have gotten from Sony instead of the super sketchy VGC numbers.

We know that Sony has shipped more. Now of course, there is a possibility that they sold fewer, despite shipping more, but it seems more likely that they also sold more when they shipped more.

Xbox slowly slipping down now

Xbox starting to fall. Ps4 holding strong at #1!

Lol, at the people stating what will and won't be a success to Sony. All Sony wants to do is win by at least 300K, though, I see them winning by 400K+. Why? So they can shove it in MS's face by stating that the PS4 was the #1 console for the months of July-Nov in the US, basically stating they wiped away any gain MS made with firesales and exclusives.

And I can't believe people actually think its going to be close, as in less than 100K. We have great pre-order results for the Pro, confirmed by insiders on Gaf and Amazon results. For Sept, the Pro was the only console in the Top 20, and it actually finished in the Top 5. In Oct, it slipped out of the Top 20, but it still was the number one console on the monthly Bestsellers at #26. In Nov, it is currently back in the Top 20, at #17, only being surpassed by the PS4 Slim. Now, let's look at the current Top 20 rankings at Amazon, and other retailers.

Amazon - #1-PS4 UC4, #16-XBO Minecraft, #17-XBO BF1

Gamestop - #1-PS4 UC4+TLOU, #2-PS4 UC4+R&C, #16-XBO GeOW4

Target - #6-PS4 Pro, #8-XBO BF1, #20-PS4 UC4

Best Buy - #9-XBO BF1

Walmart - #2-XBO Minecraft, #3-PS4 UC4, #4-XBO The Division, #5-XBO BF1, #6-XBO BF1, #7-XBO BF1 (1TB), #20-PS4 Pro

You know what any sane person would take from those? That BF may be close, with maybe a slight PS4 lead (considering Amazon and Gamestop are a large chunk of the gaming market), but you include Pro pre-orders and it's an easy win for the PS4.
