Times have changed, even in America today over 50% of children under 5 are now non-white. I think the majority of kids under 10 actually have already hit that threshold by 2017. That is the future of the country, like it or not.
People are just going to have to learn to live with another. There's no burying your head in the sand and trying to pretend it's 1950 again.
And racism is still a problem, most people are racist to some degree. They understand rationally that it's a stupid thing, but they still subconsciously project racist beliefs. We are not all the way there yet, get back to me maybe in 100 years.
We live in a modern world of instant connectedness (internet, smartphones), a global economy, relatively cheap transportation to anywhere in the world, if those things existed in 1850, you can bet society would look very different today too. Something like the two World Wars probably never would've happened.

Everybody understands you can't go back in time, but you can try to stabilize the situation and take control of your borders.
The president of the EU, Donald Tusk for example delivered a very clear speech a couple of days ago and said that the EU must control it's borders, gain back its stability and not allow these streams of migrants to flood in like in 2015.
If the EU can do it so should the USA with its borders.

Actually I don't think "everyone" understands that, I don't think many people understand how quickly humanity is changing.
Also America is a country of IMMIGRANTS. And immigrant groups are actually the wealthiest in the country, Asian Indian and Asians are the two top demographic groups and also are tops in education in the country. Mind you, America is also a country where recently 25% of the population thinks the Sun orbits the Earth. Also when (not if) non-whites are the majority in America, does that mean to "protect the status quo" they should start deporting fat, loud white Americans back to Europe? lol.
I will just say in general ... people who cannot function or abide in a society where not everyone has the exact same skin pigment as them are dinosaurs. Tribalism served our species for a few centuries sure, but it's now on its last legs, like a dying dinosaur. Just like we don't shit in bushes and the tribe leader can't just club your wife and rape her for kicks, we've evolved past that, unfortunately people who only identify with their "own" ethinicity are the last vestige of that dying trend.
Also we in the West are incredibly priveleged. What gives us the right as 1/7th of the world's population to consume 60-70% of the world's resources and hoarde 80% of the wealth? I'm no Marxist, but you can't tell 6/7 of the human population to live off our bread crumbs while we glutton our fat asses with useless shit. It's human nature to want a better life for one's family, it's why EUROPE even has a human population, if there was no desire for that, the human race would've just all stayed in Africa.
Maybe it's time for our species to grow the fuck up and realize we need to be able to live together. Next door to each other. That's the inevitable cold, hard truth. At some point in fact, probably some portion of our very own grandchildren or great grandchildren will be born OFF the planet Earth entirely. Then what? Will you be proud of them for bickering over their skin color/ethnicity while struggling to live in space? Lets hope they have more goddamn common sense than our generation and get past such immature bullshit.
