I've lowered my expectations for Nintendo hardware, the Wii U could've had a much, much better GPU and they chose something relatively weak then too.
I'd be OK with 1 TFLOP + 4-5GB of RAM, I don't think third parties are going to sell a lot of games on the NX anyway. Hardware power is only about half the equation, the other half is Nintendo doesn't have any of the demographics that buy the bigger selling third party software, and somehow I doubt the Grand Theft Auto or Madden NFL crowd is going to make a Nintendo system flooded with Disney-styled cartoony mascot games and Amiibo toys their go to system.

With Wii U they go for 720p gaming and regarding that Wii U done good job, not to mentone that moste of Nintendo Wii U games are 720p/60fps. With NX they will most likely go for 1080p gaming, that means at least XB1 hardware power, also similar power and architecture to XB1/PS4 means easy 3rd party ports.
Its not point if 3rd party will sell good on NX, its point about having good support for NX so that you can win some people that dont want to play just Nintendo games and that want to have some Fifa or CoD alongside Mario and Zelda. 3rd party support means that platform is more appeal for people that are not just hardcore Nintendo fans. Nintendo after Wii U is very aware fact they can't have successful platform without 3rd party, especially today when 3rd party games are more stronger and important than ever before.
Why would they choice 4 GB of RAM if RAM is today very cheap and it can mean a lot for 3rd party ports!? IMO NX can have only 4GB of RAM if NX actually is some kind of hybrid that you can use like handheld or connect to TV and use it like home console. If NX is actually home console I cant see they going for less than 6GB RAM in any case.

I'm not really sure this is a conventional console. The way Nintendo speaks about it indicates something that is quite different, perhaps, yes, hybrid like or semi-mobile or something like that.
I don't think it's just a simply console that plugs in under the TV and just a moderately different controller, I think this is something pretty different.
At this point it's probably their best bet anyway, they have zero chance of competing with the PS4/XB1 coming so late that both Sony/MS even have upgraded consoles that are leagues better than those machines.
A wacky/crazy machine at this point is probably Nintendo's only realistic option. While the odds are low maybe they can hit paydirt in the gimmick sweepstakes again for a few years.
My hope is for a moderate hardware upgrade. Nintendo's games already look great on the Wii U, something a good 3-4x better than that would be at least reasonable for me. A lot better than the GCN-to-Wii jump ... that was basically just re-packaing old hardware, throwing in a $20 plastic controller, and charging 2.5x the price, which really was bullshit.
