Forums - Nintendo - Emily Rogers Rumour: There's a lot of Wii U ports coming to NX

Zelda and Smash are more or less confirmed. I wonder what else could get ported.

Nintendo needs to bring out all the stops with the NX early on or basically they are finished as a hardware maker, so doing the bare minimum and thinking that's good enough is a mentality Nintendo needs to get rid of ASAP.

Agreed. Nintendo needs to pull out all the stops with NX if they're going to have a chance. No more half-measures and dragging their feet. If they don't nail this one and come out guns blazing, they'll be third party by 2019.

Yeah they're coming mid-generation into this whole thing too thanks to the trainwreck the Wii U was.

So they can't afford to just take their time and ease into this generation. Sony and MS are already both in mid-cycle form with a massive library headstart, massive userbase head start, massive mindshare head start, etc. etc. etc.

Nintendo needs to freaking come out swinging, not hanging back and waiting to get punched in the face 3 or 4 times before they realize the bell rang a minutes ago.

And I think Nintendo knows this too, I suspect the NX will be heavily front loaded with a lot of their bigger franchises earlier in the cycle than what happened on the Wii U.

We will not have new Smash Bros in near future so it make sense to port Wii U Smash to NX, and Wii U Smash with all 3DS content, all DLC, and some new content would be more than enuf for solid port. There is no sense that Nintendo will bother with GC and Wii versions of Smash Bros when Wii U so much better.

They're all pretty distinct and different games. Besides everyone else is doing it ... Uncharted is Uncharted Collection, Master Chief Collection ... if we're not having a Smash for a long time why not put all the Smash games on one disc.

There's characters missing from the Wii U/3DS versions and tons of stages/arenas not present from previous games with a wealth of great music tracks too.

This is the *entertainment* business too, not a 8th grader's mentality of doing their homework where just enough is "good enough". Nintendo needs to bring out all the stops with the NX early on or basically they are finished as a hardware maker, so doing the bare minimum and thinking that's good enough is a mentality Nintendo needs to get rid of ASAP.

You really can't compare Smash Bros Wii and Smash Bros Wii U with Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3. What's point having 3 Smash games, it doesn't make any sense.

Like I wrote, they can easily include some new stages and characters in NX version, maybe some from previus Smash games.

Of Course, and that's why there is no any sense to bother with GC and Wii version when Wii U version is better in any way.

This is really bad news. If tgose are the NX games Nintendo is working on then the NX will be completely useless for Wii U owner for one or two years. If people would have wanted those games they would have bought a Wii U.
If this is true I expect a PS4 situation with many ports and no real new games for two years. This is really bad.

Ports/remasters don't require large teams, let alone 1st party developers. They have outsourced a lot of projects for the Wii U and they could easily have those same companies take care of the ports. The Nintendo devs are freed up like normal.

I dont think there will be digital BC if they relasing so many remasters.

About 60 fps for 3D Zelda, we never had not one single 3D Zelda running on 60fps.

I think one has little to do with the other.

We've never had a 3-D Zelda launching under these circumstances where it would actually be possible to.

Having all the stages and characters from all the Smash games doesn't make sense? I think it makes a lot of sense. I have Smash U with all the DLC, I wouldn't buy it again on NX, but add that in and it becomes a much broader compilation and they could even impliment different play styles from each of the installements as they all play a little differently.

The U version is not considered the best by a lot of people, by the way. Actually what I'm saying though is not a port, I'm saying one game that has ALL those stages and characters available right from the get go in one massive new game, not "oh I'm going to switch now to Smash Melee from Smash U".

imho I don't think we'll be seeing ports of MK8, Smash 4, or Splatoon like many others here believe. I think those games will have sold enough to not warrant a porting. If we are going to see these franchises on the NX it will be in the form of sequels with MK9 releasing possibly in 2017, Splatoon 2 in 2018, and Smash 5 in either 2019 or 2020.

Like I said in my previous post, I think these three unknown ports will be between either Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, Star Fox Zero, or Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water. Now that I think about it some more though Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, and XCX have a good potential of being ported as well.

Thing about Smash 4 is that Sakurai said he is tired from Smash Bros and he is not sure if he will work on any other Smash game ever again, so we will not see new Smash Bros game next couple of years, Smash Bros is game that is old only year and half, at end of this year it will be old only two years, also Smash Bros 4 is like definitive Smash Bros games, its biggest Smash game buy far. So it make sense to port Smash to NX, especially if they include all 3DS content, DLCs and some new content. We already had solid rumour saying that Bandai Namco is working on Smash Bros 4 port for NX.

Point is that Nintendo doesn't think 3D Zelda games needs 60fps and thats why they never done 3D Zelda in 60 fps, and we had similar circumstances with TP.

They can't really even do the "it's 1080P now!" thing for a NX remaster of Smash U ... because the Wii U version already runs at 1080p, lol.
