So that's why loading screens were always so boring? Thanks broken patent system! You can "own" a basic concept like that?!

I think Splatoon dosnt fit in this criteria, since the waiting times in Splatoon arent there because the games needs loading, but you are waiting for the players to join.In other words, you are not in a loading screen, but in the game.
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Oh, you gotta be fuckin' kidding me! Back in the days, there was Broken Sword on PC. Instead of just looking at a boring status bar, you could play Breakout while the game was installing! I absolutely loved that, time was just flying by! I always wondered why no other games made use of such things. Especially on PS1 where loading times where EXTREME! And now I hear that the only reason is some stupid patent?! Fuck this! Fuck patents! I'm so mad right now, seriously!

For me it would be Summoner for PS2 that I feel could have benefited with mini-games during loading times as those went north of 15 minutes from area to area.
Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Actually that's not on the loading screens but on waiting for online connections. Might be different enough to not be covered by the patent.
