DEMOS!!! Yes, demos! They've gone digital with many I'd these games yet nearly none of them have demos that allow players to try them before making a purchase. For instance, I've not been a fan of Fallout and Elder Scrolls games but I like to try them to see if I'd like them. Instead of paying $60 for the game and end up not liking it it'd be nice if players are allowed 45-60 minutes of gameplay after downloading the game. After the time ends, the player is met with a "Purchase Full Version" screen. There are a slew of games that I'd like to play but some most don't have demos and some don't even have screenshots. What say you?

so download a 50GB game for a 60 minutes demo?
That may have worked with XBLA games, but the size of todays games are way too large. Far too much traffic would be caused by that.
Regular demos should be enough.

Nah, demos aren't really that great, they can hurt sales.

The Splatoon demo was done well though, IMO, only being playable in specific intervals.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Betas are the new demo's

Wii U has them, although only for a handful of games.

And yes, demos can hurt sales, because one can see what's really behind those hypetrailers

Who needs Demos when you have the Glorious Gaming Journalist and their Metacritic score.

or you can wait for the release and watch someone upload gameplays on Youtube. xD xD xD

Whats mising is game-gifting

Yeah I can't believe this is missing, a win-win situation surely.

Only thing I can think of is that Sony/MS don't want GTA being gifted to ten year old, parents find out and get rid of the console maybe.

Games have age ratings right? Just make sure a 10 year old cant get gifted a game with a higher age rating. OR have the current parent-control system work with game gifting as well, easy =)

"console online stores"?

I don't see demos in the steam store either.

Hunting Season is done...

Reason why devs/pubs dont release demos anymore is a lot of the times games are over hyped and they dont live up to their promises(all 3 companies + third parties) and are either buggy or have been downgraded. So they don't want you to see that and try it out, they want their first wave of sales off first week buyers who still believe in the developers initial promises

and they'll hide behind ''oh demos will hurt our sales'',which they'll give the fake reason ''its because people will try it and feel like they've played the game and wont buy it'' when the real reason is what i stated above

eShop has a lot of Demos for WiiU and 3DS. Quite some of them allow to take the savegame into the full game.

From my experience, all of them could do with some reorganizing with an eye towards user friendliness. If a PS+ game is primarily for Vita, but also on PS4 due to cross-buy, a PS4 owner shouldn't have to manually search by name for it. Advertising here makes sense, but not to the point of cluttering up and obscuring the interface & actual content.

Once that happens, gifting seems a smart thing to add.
