Reason why devs/pubs dont release demos anymore is a lot of the times games are over hyped and they dont live up to their promises(all 3 companies + third parties) and are either buggy or have been downgraded. So they don't want you to see that and try it out, they want their first wave of sales off first week buyers who still believe in the developers initial promises
and they'll hide behind ''oh demos will hurt our sales'',which they'll give the fake reason ''its because people will try it and feel like they've played the game and wont buy it'' when the real reason is what i stated above
