So Cloud, where was the second Skull Dancer? I must have missed it entirely.

It's in the forest maze. If you go pase the save point on the left, on the next screen, head to the very bottom ( I think it's by the grey chest ) and down the path you should see a dark greyish skull just hopping in place. You can choose to fight him or not.

Alright cool might give it a try now we can move around more freely and without that tank pretending to be a boat...it'll be nice to have my ass handed to me anyway

Cloud's Log: Day 15

Heya all, it's Cloudman here with another log. Last time we dealt with some shinanigens in the mines, like fighting a door, being bomberman and indiana Jones, and fight spinning blocks. Now this time we enter the Lighting Temple to get the summon spirit Volt. So yeah... let's do that!

The Shocking Tale of the Lightning Temple and the Colorful Blocks, and Goodbye Corrine

With our orders given, we enter the Lightning Temple, and it seems pretty small at first. There is a neat puzzle with pushing a button causes a lightning ball to shoot out from one of 3 electric rod things. Pushing the button causes lightning to be shot at YOU. So you have to mess with the 3 rods so you can advance forward, and break a rock to get a new ring function, a lightning blaster. This one shoots blue lightning, which is able to break blue blocks, I guess? Oh, there are also yellow and red blocks here too. You'll be coming back here, if you want treasure that is, at least...

So after clearing the first room, the real challenge starts. This is a big temple. There are many many pathways. At the summon spirit's summoning spot are 3 colored blocked on top of each other: blue, yellow, and red. You have to get all the colors of the rainbow lightning to break them all. There are also rooms with long paths and no fences to keep you from falling, and the room gets dark, so you have to memorize the path ahead of you. It's not too hard, but the lights dimming on and off is a bit on the eyes... Also, you can fall and end up at the beginning. I actually used this a lot as a short cut, haha...

There are also a lot of missable treasures here.  You can climb up stairs to the top of this room, where there are blue blocks with a treasure on it, and a lightning rod switch. BREAK THE BLOCKS FIRST. This will cause the treasure to fall. Then turn on the lightning switch. Lightning wil come and break the floor below you. So yeah, it's important you break the blocks first. Otherwise you can miss out on some nice treasure.

You also have to flip some switches around, because in one room, there is a path below with water, and lightning shooting it from the sky, which you can't access, because water + electricity = bad, mm'kay..? So you will be running around a lot, breaking blocks, making switches fall, and powering things on. It grew quite tiresome. You also have to do this weird slot puzzle where you contrust a path for a lightning current to travel up a specific line to power a machine on. This temple feels like quite a marathon or traveling back and forth, breaking colored rocks and setting switches.

Also, there is something odd about this place and its puzzles. It should be noted that Sheena has tried this before, and failed. Remember that. So, there is one puzzle, the light slot puzzle that, when solved, causes a brige to break, and reveal another path below. What bothers me is that, when I entered the room, the bridge was intact. This got me wondering, if the puzzles were cleared before, why is the bridge fine? Did someone come to fix it? Maybe the temple repairs itself? I dunno... It was weird...

Moving on, we finish the temple and its puzzles, and we find Volt, the summon spirit that is a... big glowy ball with eyes and speaks with "..." and somehow RAINE CAN TRANSLATE IT. Did Raine learn to speak "..."? This just baffled my mind. What is she translating, and how can she understand a summon spirit from another world?! Absurdities aside, we learn that Volt does not want to make a new pact, saying its lost its faith in humanity and refuses to help. He even attacks us. Sheena is about to get hit, when suddenly, Corrine, her weird pet squirrel jumps in and takes a fatal blow, and dies. Then Lloyd comes in to block some attacks as well. Maybe Lloyd could have done the blocking in the first place? Maybe then the little animal wouldn't have died... Cooked rat anyone?

Lloyd gives some encouraging words, and we fight it! Volt is actually a tough guy, using a lot of lightning attacks that are continuous and just drain your health. I died the first time, but I switched out a party member, and crushed him the 2nd time. So we forced hope into Volt, and he joins our side. Suddenly, Volt and the water spirit appear, saying the mana has been severed between both worlds. I don't know what that means, nor if it's good, but we know this is the first time the spirits of both Sylvarant and Tethe 'alla' have been awoken. I guess Mithos didn't do that, haha. History in the making baby! So yeah, we decide we should awaken the rest and see what happens... So with that done, we leave the Lightning Temple with tasty mouse meat one less party member... ;_;

Get the Flying Machines, and Take Flight!

After completing the temple, we learn where the flying machines are. Why in a renegade base of course!!! So we're going to bust in and take them again! So creative... Luckily, a ninja disguised as a renegade lets us in, but unfortunately can't get use to the flying machines. We have to do that ourselves, getting passcodes by beating up guards. Here comes dungeon 2. This one has the gimmick of having laser lights, which you cannot pass, or you will die get hurt. You use blocks that are conveniently placed for you to block the laser paths. You have to do this for every laser you see, and if you mess up, by pushing a block past the laser and beyond your reach, it will disappear and appear behind you. These bases have the weirdest and most inconvenient security system. This is another tiresome dungeon with a lot of pushing blocks around, and using elevators. You also have to find the guards who have the codes. Once you find them all and get all the treasure, you can advance to the top, enter the code and take the machines.. screw it, I'll just call them Rheiards. Typing flying machines is too tiring now.

Actually, we would, but first, a boss fight! 2 of the leaders come and attack us! And they are tough too. My party members ending dwindling in health and start to die off, faster than Raine can cure us. So we slowly died out. I try again with a different party member, and beat him smoothly. I should just have 3 melee fighters and a healer always for these things... 2 magic users doesn't work for me...

So I beat them, and we jump on the Rheiards and take flight! Yes! Now I can go anywhere in the world x ) Also, the party flies synchronized, like an olympic swimming group, haha. Well, with that, we land and end the session, because this is the eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeend.

That wraps up this play throught of Tales of Symphonia. I hope we have some cool flying adventures next time, but we will see...

See ya next time : D

So here's the deal. We've been given the ability now to effectively take a bit of, well, free roam around the world. The Rheiards, the flying machines, have allowed us to go where we want. Naturally that means exploration awaits!

Ofcourse our main task now has to be making pacts with more summon spirits, so we do so with Gnome (Earth) and Celsius (Ice). The difficulty comes when the otherwise straightforward dungeons are plagued with optional extras. One unfortunate incident for those not paying attention leads to having to return to a previous dungeon, then going out of that to buy something elsewhere to go back to that previous dungeon to get something to progress in the next one. It seems like counter-intuitive game design.

Irrespective of that, two reasonably straightforward dungeons down, onto the next...but something very bad has happened to Iselia! This wasn't part of the deal! A quick rush back there leads us to seeing some rather horrific scenes, and a new travelling companion (I am reluctant to say "party member"...). There's a lot more to this, but that will have to wait for next time. Suffice to say I think we'll be waiting just a little longer before entering that next temple.

Cloud's Log: Day 16

Heya, Cloudman here. It feels like it's been awhile since the last log, but I am back to continue the adventure! Let's get on with it!

Around the World In Maybe An Hour, and Quickly! Kiss Save the Aliens! Girl!

So the last time I played, I has just gotten the Rheiards, machines that can fly in the sky, and now I am able to flying anywhere in the world! But I also have to save Colette! So I do the reasonable thing: Explore the world of course! Colette isn't going anywhere, and nothing will happen until I progress the story. So I will explore all that I can first! Yee hah!!! ...Unfortunately, I can't really do that. The game doesn't let me progress. I try to enter some areas and towns, and Lloyd tells me "Why have to save Collette!" What a ho boring guy... That didn't stop me from finding some accessible areas... x )

I went north to a snow village, Christmasy music and all, and I was able to explore it! I talked to towns people, bougth some supplies, and even found a wonder chef or too x D The town was really nice, but there wan't much to do there... So I left the town and searched the north pole. I did fight some monsters, like PEOPLE IN PENGUIN COSTUMES. That was seriously weird... I also found a conversation or 2 in the area x ) That was neat...

I also found a rich beachy area with richly people and BUNNY GIRLS. For some reason, there are bunny girls here, which is weird, but I won't complain x ) Also, for some reason, Regal doesn't like this town. Like, he refuses to enter, and waits outside until you come back... I did explore this area some, and bought more gear.

Oh yeah, I also found a FLOATING CITY IN THE SKY!!! (Laputa anyone?) Seriously, there is a city floating in the sky. I went to it and talked to people and just explore all I could. There wasn't much hear except a wonder chef maybe? It wasn't much, but it was cool x D

Aside from these 3 towns, I couldn't access anything else. So I reluctantly continued the story... I found the purple haired man, Rodyle, there with Colette trapped. We tell him to give her to us, but he laughs and says we can have her, since she is useless to him, or something. But he still decided to sic his pet dragon birds on us... @_@ So we fight 2 dragon birds, and... a giant dragon head and neck, for some reason... It doesn't even have a body. Weirdness aside, this was a tough fight. The bodiless dragon gave me a hard time, but we beat them. The purple man, redial the phone, runs off, and we try to save Colette, but cannot break the barrier she is in. Also, the barrier shoots out something that causes harm to everyone. Somehow, Presea resists it and frees Colette. The tiny area starts to collapse, and we manage to escape, barely...

Around the World In 80 Days Round 2, and the Earth Temple

After the battle with Purple Man Rodyle's bird dragons, the party ends up next to the Earth Temple, which seems like a good place to contine... Except I leave to explore the world again! I have access to everything in the world again, but I still can't do much. The new areas I find are off limits to me. How lame... I did find some cool secrets though, as well as more treasures and conversations x D

So with my exploration done, I decide to enter the Earth Temple! Now, this one has its own weird quirk to it, like all the others. This time, for some reason, there are little gnomes here that block your path and act like big shots. I should just stomp them with my boot. Oddly enough, all the gnomes get out of my way to explore the temple. Not sure why little gnomes are getting in my way, but they are...

Anyways, I find the sorcerer's ring function here, an earthquake function. Use this power, and the earth will shake. You use it to cause things to break and fall, such as treasures and bridges. Over use it, and a giant worm will land on you and fight you o_o This dungeon is rather short and easy. You just have to entertain gnomes a bit. You even have to make curry for one of them. I don't know why it's there, but it is... There is also a room with a sort of puzzle for treasures. Stand on top of a bridge and use the ring to break them. depending on which part of the bridge you stand on, you will land on a different platform below and can get different treasures. Think of it as kind of like Plinko, from the Price is Right...

Tales of Symphonia Earth Temple. Kind of Like Plinko... Well, Not Really... >_>;

On your first try with this puzzle, you will miss some treasures, but don't worry. You can go back to the room and try again to get all the treasures. At the bottom, you meet a gnome brother on the left who will take you out of the room. On the right side is just another brother who is a jerk and won't let you pass...

Anyways, you find a secret path that takes you to the beginning, as well as another gnome bro who offers to help you reach the boss, but he hates monsters! So makes sure to protect him while he is walking, or else he will get mad and not progress the game >: T After the bro walks to the destination, he gets on top of a bridge, and tells you he can break the bridge if they work together. Now, he will jump and you time your earthquake power with his jump to break the bridge. So he counts 1...2...3! And you have to time it with your ring. This part I hated. It took me a lot of tries to break the bridge. So the bridge falls and we die and we nearly fall to our death. The gnome laughs it off and walks away. Well, at least I can fight the boss.

So at the end, we meet a giant mole who is the earth spirit. He talks like a jokester kid and makes fun of the way Sheena speaks. Anyways, we fight the mole to make a pact, and he is kinda tough, but we beat him anyways. The wind spirits show up, saying the mana links are severed further, we get Gnome the Earth Spirit, and an earthquake happens. Cool... So we are done with the Earth Temple, yay! ...Actually, not yet. Remember the one gnome bro in the puzzle room who wouldn't let us pass? Well, all the brothers are there, and they will allow us to pass! ... Only if all the brothers are present, and one is missing T_T So I can't go this secret route without finding the last bro. I will find him though! ... Just not now. Next time for sure, because....!

It's the eeeeeeeeeeeeeeend... of this play through! I'll be back to cover more Tales of Symphonia action! See ya next time! x D

Heya, it's Cloudman again! I'm back with another log. I want to get back on track with these posts to be back up to date. So let's not waste any time.

Side Quest Adventures and the Ice Temple

So with the Earth Temple done, one party member suggests we go to the Ice Temple for the next summon spirit. Sounds like a good idea! But before then, I still need to find the missing fifth gnome bro from the Earth Temple. Luckily, my twin tailed fox friend gives me a few clues on what extras I missed. First off, I found where the last gnome bro was. Oddly enough, he was just hanging out in the dwarf, Altessa's house. I dunno why he was there, but he was there... I talked to him, tell him his bros are looking for him, and he rushes home. I follow suit, and we head to the Earth Temple, where the bros reside.  They reunite and leave the temple, allowing me to check out the cut off path. Unfortunately, all there is is the black treasure chest I can't open.

My twin tailed friend tells me these contain the devil arms, collectible items hidden across the world. I learn I need one item to open the black boxes, and I actually passed it. Remember some logs ago in the mine? I was bomberman, Indiana Jones, and fought a flipping stone block. Last time, I crushed it with the boulder, but I didn't bother to check the stone's remains. Turns out, a devil arm, the evil eye, was in there. Why an evil item would be inside a flipping stone, I have no idea, but it was there. I went back and picked up the item, and went to the next area, Flanoir the Christmas Land, to trigger the sidequest. There is a sickly man who needs help finding devil arms to avoid dying from a curse. I offer to help him, and now I can open the black chests. I go back and open the ones I know, the forest maze and earth temple. For some reason, they hurt Presea, giving her headaches. But we carry on! Also, the devil arms are weapons I can equip, but they are weak. I can't use them in their current state...

Oh yeah, since I stopped by the forest maze, I decided to fight the sword dancer again. Last time, he owned me hard, but I am stronger than before. So I tried again, and was holding my own! My team was fighting against it, until we ran out of TP to do magic and special attacks, and CPUs are bad at staying alive. I almost lost in the end, but killed it barely... Sheena died though, so she missed exp., but we won anyways!!! : D

Everyone wins! ...Well, except Sheena, who died right at the end...

So with the quest done, I head to the Ice Temple! This one is pretty ordinary, and kind of small. There are some ice monsters to fight here. There is a new sorcerer's ring function here. Man, there are so many different functions...! Anyways, the new one lets us make ice blocks from water droplets. This is used a little bit to reach some places. I also have to freeze a lake to reach the Ice Spirit. I tried using the ring, but the flowing water is too much to freeze with the ring alone. There speaks of a flower that can freeze anything in the cave. So I need to find this flower... However, I need special gloves to even touch it! Luckily, I got the gloves beforehand x D

So I explore a different part of the dungeon, find the flower, and freeze the lake. This is where a new puzzle comes in. Remember those sliding puzzles in the pokemon games? Well, this game decided to have one too...

Eeeeveryone loves these, right...?

Personally, I loved doing these. They are a lot of fun. Doing the Tales version though took some time. Though I figured it out eventually x ) However, the door leading to the ice spirit is locked, and I have to do another puzzle, rotating these ice totem poles. The answer was in the sliding puzzle I did. So I had to go back to the sliding puzzle, look at the totem poles frozen in the ice, and then go back to solve the totem puzzle. I got it all though, and gained access to Celsius, the ice spirit...! She is quite fiesty, putting up quite a fight, but we win in the end x ) So I make the pact, and another earthquake happens, severing the mana links even further. As we step outside, we see clouds build up in the sky, and ligthning strikes down on Ozette, the forest town. So we head over there to make sure it is okay...

Burn to the Ground Ozette!, Mithos the Woman?!, the Beachy Town of Altamira, and Back to Sylverant!

Concerned for Ozette, we rush over to the town. However, it is too late. The town is set ablaze, with everyone dead. Well, except one. There is this girl who is the only survivor in the town. We talk to her, and she is actually... a boy..?? Named Mithos??? Like the hero of legends...

You would think this is a woman, right...? I did...

So we find this person, who is suspicious of us, since he is a half-elf, and they are hated in this world. However, we convince him we are good people, as well as join us in our quest, since he is alone now. Unfortunately, he is not a new party member. He can't fight...  He does join conversations though.

With nothing else to do, we check on Altessa, who blames himself for this calamity. He claims it was his actions that resulted in Osette being destroyed. He believes the Cruxis group is trying to kill him, since he was involved with them, but backed out or something. Also, Tabetha, the cute girl, is a robot. : ( She still looks great though ; ) So plot aside, we stay with Altessa for the night. The next day, we find Raine is missing, and learn she headed to Altamira, the beach resort town. I guess she wants to be a bunny gurl I am certain she went to look for more clues on how to return to Sylvarant. We decide to chase after her.

Oddly enough, Regal still doesn't want to enter the town. So we go inside, looking for Raine. We do find out that Presea's younger sister has passed away, and this president guy of a company in town lets us access to his offices to pray at Presea's sister's grave. So we head to this Lorenzo company, head to the top floor, and Presea meets her deceased sister, trapped in an exsphere placed on the grave. We learn someone killed her, but we don't know who, and before she can finish her sentence, she disappears. So now we must find her sister's killer.

We also learn a festival will take place soon. It is said on a full moon that a gate will open, allowing people to cross between the 2 worlds. They are rock pillars found south of the town. So we head to the rocks, where Raine is. We also learn that Raine and Genis were from Tethe'alla, where Raine has vague memories of it.

As we are learning about Raine and Genis's past, a ninja and knights show up. The ninja was a friend of Sheena's, who is mad at her. He blames her for killing his parents, as well as other people from the village, since she failed the pact. He claims she wasn't trying the first time, and should be punished. He also sicks knights on us. We kill some, but there are too many. Sheena offers herself up to sacrifice, so the others can escape, but the portal in the center of the rocks open up, Zelos grabs Sheena, and we run away into the hole.

Next thing that happens, a comet falls from the sky, and we fall and die land into Sylvarant! We're back! : )  We luckily escaped. And this is where I stopped for this session. It's the eeeeend!

Whew, tht was long. I'll back back with one more session. See ya then!

Sylvarant Chapter  | [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

Tethe'alla Chapter | [7] [Chapter 8: SEWERS D: ]

Oh no, the sewers are coming soon…
Our half elf friends get captured in Sybak so we go back to save them, meaning we have to walk on that super long bridge. Now that we have what we need, we go back to Fooji Mountains to get the Rheiards but a trap! Here we fight Pronyma who is weak to light, so you know what that means! Prism Sword! Prism Sword! Prism Sword! We learn that Yuan is also part of Cruxis and is an angel as well and Pronyma runs away.

The sewers…
We need to return to Meltokio, but since the gates are locked, we have to go through the sewers. Through my 6 runs, I will consider this dungeon the second worst in the game. This dungeon isn’t difficult by any means, but it’s so tedious. You have to drag blocks for insane distances and push them down off the edge. But if you accidentally push one off at the wrong spot (which is very easy) then you will have to restart from the beginning. You need to push the block forward, shrink to get in front of it, get big, pull the block, shrink to get behind it, get big and push it forward 1 square, shrink to get in front of it, get big to pull it and repeat. It sucks.

There and back again

Now we are back in Meltokio, we get a boat so we cannot cross the long bridge. Quick jump to leave (yay!) and we are back in Sybak to do a few more things and next, to Gaoracchi Forest. Nothing much to say about this dungeon, except there is a lot of locations that loop and make it unending. Really easy to spot so I progress rather easily. The only annoying thing is that you need to shine light on vegetation that is blocking your path, but there is a sweet spot that you have to shine on or they will not react. The second Sword Dancer is here and he is a lot stronger. He casts a lot of stronger spells, but is still weak to light, so the same strategy applies as fighting the first one. A lot of Prism Swords and Lloyd soaking the damage.

After, we fight Mr. Convict (Fatalize plays as we fight him so obviously he is important) and we leave to the hidden village, Mizuho

Recap:
We back track quite a bit to finally get to a new location, Mizuho!

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

After a month or two of no updates, i am finally back! Due to some unfortunate curcumstances and things preventing me from doing these updates, i was held back, however, since all those things are out of the way, i feel now is the time to get back to these! :) I will be starting from about where Cloudman left off with his last update, So without any more delay let us get on with it!

So yes, we are now back in Sylvarant, and we are of course all in one piece ( Wouldn't be too good if the main character died there ;) ) But now the gang focuses their attention on Mithos, and his/her safety. After a small amount of dispute, it is decided that Mithos will stay in Palmacosta in the meantime, while we go stop the Mana Cannon the Regegades told us.

So yes, we are taken to where the Mana Cannon resides, an underwater ranch! It is indeed quite the spectacle, and the group swiftly get right to it! While a little tedious, i found the puzzles in this puzzle to be quite intriguing, and overall a lot of fun! So after finding and activating three switches, we unlock the door that leads us to the mastermind behind the Mana Cannon, and it seems he has gotten himself a Cruxis Crystal, certainly not what we were hoping for. He infuses himself with it and promply fights us. His moves did indeed deal a lot of damage, but with some block/attack strats, he was taken out! :D

However, before he is completely wiped, he activates the self-destruct button for the ranch ( Seriously, why are all these ranches equiped with this? ) and obviously we need to deactivate it. However, even Raine's expertise is unable to do this, but just at the right time Botta comes in to help, and allows us to get out. In spite of that, Botta is trapped and water starts to flood the room. The gang attempt to get him out of there, but it is no use. #BottaFeels T-T

So, continuing on, after the #BottaFeels moment, we discover that dragons have been let out of their cages, and we have to fend them off.....right after the boss fight. Luckily, with a potion or two, we survive and the dragons are taken care of. Just as a side note, this is one of the more annoying parts of Tales of Symphonia, throwing fairly strong enemies at you. It would be nice if we were able to heal up or something, and i was lucky i wasn't completely drained of health, but people who could've bearly survived would've gotten destroyed by that, and that means you have to do the whoole thing over. Honestly its a pretty odd design choice.

So anyways, after that fight, Mithos comes and saves us, with the help of the flute he gave us, hooray! Oh, and a summon showing up. Anyways, we fly back to Palmacosta, where we do this and that, and we go back to the Renegade base to say what happened etc. So yes, we are now done with this play session! ...Or are we?

After this, i actually went and got the Fire and Wind summons, due to a certain little fluff of cloud doing it beforehand ;)

The Fire summon was easily the harder of the two, but each were dispatched of fairly quickly without too much struggle, and that allows us to break more mana links between Sylvarant and Tethe'alla!

So anyways, NOW we are done! I hope you enjoyed reading this, and i hope you read my next update! :)
