Forums - Nintendo Discussion - IGN gives Devils Third a 3.5

User scores agreggate ARE in general more reliable than journalistic ones.

I'm tired of saying this, but the mindset of someone who buys and tries to enjoy a game and the mindset of someone who got it for free and is trying to find flaws intentionally are completely different.

The general consensus from incompetent journalists? Both japanese and european players love it. I beat the game on the "Hardcore" mode and I love it too.

User scores reliable confirmed.

For Wii U games I would say yes, they are more reliable. They aren't trolled as much as the xbone and PS4 user scores. Check for yourself if you don't believe me.

Truth be told, if it ever does come to the United States, I'll probably still buy it. I'll just buy it for cheap. I've had a lot of fun with mediocre games like X-Blades and Hunted. I know they're bad but for some reason, that's what makes them good.

It's releasing in North America on December 11.

16 of the 23 users that wrote a review and gave this game a good score on metacritic gave it a 10 (2 even wrote other scores in their reviews and still gave it a 10), reliable my ass. It doesn't matter if Wii U or not, people giving user scores way too often only think in extremes, it's either perfect or complete garbage, 0 or 10. Also for PS4 and X1 it often balances itself out with the trolls, you have the trolls giving 0 because it's on a platform they hate and the other people that give 10s because it's on a platform they love. On Wii U you only have that one weight and you can guess which one.

No because those who buy the game wants the game and they are Nintendo fans so i still wont trust them as much.

The sheer number of perfect scores says all. They aren't trolled but it's very biased.

If you look at the PS4/XB1 games it's the same aswell, 10/10's or 0/10's.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Not surprising at all..

Devil's Third is for lovers of old fashioned single player experiences. For those who want to see strong efforts in in-your-face action games make a comeback. It's a highly curated museum piece for old-timey, in-your-face action video games, and if you cherish having a collection of finely produced games, then that's the value of Devil's Third in a nutshell. If you're excited for a strong new IP with endless possibilities and want to see Valhalla put out new iterations of this level of quality, then give them the nod. I already have.

Ok hold up. The largest complaints against the game seem to be technical and you are talking "quality" and "being finely produced" . This just seems questionable.

Personally, I personally prefer user reviews. However you have to strip out the "fanboy" aspect.

However, people who buy the game generally know what they're getting themselves into. While journalistic reviews often end up with people who don't like a genre reviewing it against incredibly mainstream accessible gaming.

This is pretty much why I don't like stuff like Meta. It gives the fanboys ammunition to decide what is and isn't a good game. However, really, the opinions that count, are those of people who enjoy particular genres.

Would you ask a baker to review a BBQ?

It's the reason so many great niche games get such mediocre ratings, yet are highly revered amongst peers.
