That someone is his daughter, so it really shouldn't be anyone elses business, including the law, since it is his family's business. That familly is implicitly compliant with his culturally infoluenced behaviors based on their choice to associate with him.

I think the daughter, who at 20 is an adult and entitled to her own decisions, should take priority over whatever he thinks and considering she was screaming for help it's safe to assume she didn't agree with what her father was doing...

But even if she was a young child, the culture of the father can never superscede the law of the country they live in. If a culture is deemed to be abusive of children of any age, the social authorities or even police must react. It is not a matter of thinking that my own opinion is above someone elses: it is a matter of what rules we have set up in our society and that we as part of that society sign up to those rules. If we want to change the rules, than we act politically to do so. This guy in question should be charged with murder since he obviously prevented people from helpng his drowning daughter.

How old was the person that died? If he/she was a minor, wanst the country justice system supposed to deny the parents decision and provide the blood transfusion? Also, was a matter of life and death or was the transfusion only to prolong he/she life for a few months? Just curious...

He was 20, and yes, it was a matter of life, with a simple transfusion he could have live normally. And he was in a state in which he couldn't decide, so their parents take this decision on his behalf. Awful, but true. He wasn't even a Jehova's witness...

On the religion topic, Catholicism is not, precisely, free of charge in its history. Homophobia, paedophilia, murder, holy wars, refusal to the condomm use, which could prevent the STIs... etc. etc. I'm not talking about all the catholic people, I've met a lot of people who are catholics and are excellent people. But the Catholic institution is/was rotten. They have a lot of questions to answer...

That father is not a father. It's a scumbag. The worst kind of scumbag.

If I were the lifeguard, I'd still jump in and save her life, not caring if I lose my job just because the father got ultra aggressive towards me.

Like seriously?

Does it say where from Asia they are from?

United Arab Emirates

Why is he called "asian"? Wouldn't it be arabian?

There was a similar story in "Spiegel Online" (german news site) where a former emergency doctor told that he wanted a woman to help getting a baby but he wasn't allowed to because the man said that he didn't want him to touch his wife. The doctor told them the baby would die if he wouldn't help but the man just said "then we make another one". The baby died in the end.

In all of the reports on it I saw, it was all sourced from one Emarites 24/7 article, where the man was referred to as 'Asian', and not identified.
