Hahaha its really funny. The female fire emblem fans have no problem with the sexualization.
is it really embarrassing for you, guys?

I don't think anybody's issue is being embarrased, it wouldn't even make sense, maybe if it was a home console game that you play on a big screen.

It's more about taste i think.

I mentioned Quina and no one bats an eye. I really got aroused by her, specially with that long tounge she had.

Maybe we are using the wrong term here. It's not "sexualized",it's "hot chick". And RPG's are full of those. You need a hot chick to be a decent RPG.

FF VII for example has 3 very hot chicks. The "hot as fuck" Tifa and the "hot but cute" Aerith.  You also have the "almost hot and a little bit too young" Yuffie.

Well Quina is a clear case of over sexualization, that's why no one's arguing.

I'll agree that most RPGs (most games even) have attractive characters, that's just how things are. Gears of War is the only game I can think of where every character is ugly as hell.

Signature goes here!

I fail to see the problem, It's still Fire Emblem, and if you read the Iwata Asks from the game you will that they took the complaints about Awakening's story to heart.

Also you know that if you feel so unconfortable with a part of the human anatomy you can just not play this part of the game right? You can just play the history normally.

That is what I did with Awakening, play just the main missions and some paralogues because I didn't care for the relationship system.

Again, I fail to see the problem here.

I dont see any issues with it. Infact I love it!

One thing is clear though, the old way was not working out for them considering how much FE sales decreased with each iteration. Only after FEA did it once again start telling quite a bit and most likely, the fan service helped with the sales. So yea, I really see no issues with it. If the minority has issues with sex, oh well, I for one would rather take oversexualization over a dead franchise anyday.

I just hope NoA doesn't censor it like they did with FEA

Oversexualization or not, the Fire Emblem franchise as we knew it is dead since Awakening released.

You can't say that Awakening and Radiant Dawn are 2 games of the same franchise.

Wait, how is the series dead? Awakening saved and revived the series. It's thanks to Awakening that we are getting Fates. And how are Awakening and RD not same games in the franchise? They are both FE games. Awakening has the core mechanic of a FE game, just with a lot more added features. It's taking the series and expanding it, which has been rather similar up until Awakening.

Awakening compared to Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn?

Crappy story (if you call that a story), crappy characters, almost all maps are wide open fields with nothing on it, no balancing in the difficulty, only "Kill all enemies" or "Kill the boss" objectives, no gold, items or XP management (unlimited with side battles), and no strategy involved in the entire game (pair up your two main characters, win the battle, and at the end you don't even have to pair them up, one character is enough). And I surely missed a few points.

Nope, it's not the same franchise to me, it's more like the kid friendly mobile spin off.

Bigger audience doesn't mean better game, I think we all know it. Other games like Dark Souls could get better sales by putting more boobs and waifus, lighter colors, and by making the game easy and kid-friendly (less scary monsters, less violence, no need to try a fight several times...). Doesn't mean it would still be a Dark Souls game, and I don't think it would be great for the franchise.

That's fair if you don't believe is that good in your opinion, but that doesn't change that Awakening saved the series, being the most sold game in the series to date. I think that speaks pretty well for how the game is, aside from the story. Even the FE team recognized that the story was crap.

And I don't understand how making the game more accessible to more players is a bad thing if you can still enjoy the game in its intended form. You can still play a FE game in its standard form. For others who are not used to it, or new,  I don't see why having an easier mode is a bad thing. It's not hurting either side, and just opens the game for more people to play. It doesn't take anyway away from it, and everyone can enjoy it.

Also, I don't see where boobs or wives are an issue in Awakening.

It's off-putting for me as well. Some people play something colorful and it makes them feel embarrassed to play it, like a kid. I'm not that way; what makes me feel like that is anime bewbs. It makes me feel stupid for supporting it, and to me it's indicative of a project that's traded any integrity for sad pandering.

I agree 100%, but whatever, if this sells more, what can we do? it's capitalism, Fire Emblem was going to die and Awakening saved it by turning it into a waifu breeding simulator.

Pretty much.  It baffles me when there's so much "material" readily available outside of games, but apparently the majority of the population wants it all the time, in everything, always, and will literally overlook the game itself if there isn't enough of it.  I never want to meet that kind of gamer.

I searched a few days ago the Fates characters images. I liked Ophelia for example, but she's just a naked kid under a transparent dress (they just didn't draw the sex, but that's all), and several characters are like that. It's basically "any ecchi anime in the world" characters. I'm not even talking about the naked versions already available on the internet...

It's hard to take a TRPG seriously when your "soldiers" look like naked school girls and boys on a field trip. I'm even more interested in the few "ugly old guys" from Nohr who understand that you may need an armor at war.

I don't like it.

I don't get why people here get so defensive everytime there's critcism about a Nintendo game.

This just makes it look like another generic skimpy JRPG#32235.

Fire Emblem had a great art style up until Awakening, now fates just went full "compile hearts/senran kagura" crap (imo).

Altough i don't blame them honestly, Awakening was going to be the last game in a franchise that was about to die, and Awakening turned it into very important 3DS franchise now.

Still, the price was too high, now instead of getting lords fighting for their people and empire, we get big titties and softcore porn, it's like they sold their dignity just to stay afloat.

However this is just an opinion, if you just enjoy this type of artstyle, well, better for you.

I just wish this moe artstyle could die, there's so few JRPGs nowadays that don't look like K-ON and stuff like that.

I just can't immerse myself in a game that have this kind of characters, i wan't to play as a knight with full plate armor, not as a 15 year old with double D cups almost nude fighting other 15 year olds with D cups.

I was going to make a long post saying exactly what you have here, but you did it for me :p

This perfectly nails exactly how I feel about Awakening/Fates.  I'm the biggest FE fan here and probably in the world but I loathe anime and it's been a irritating spectical having to deal with the merger of these two things.  I too understand that the series needed to adapt to the mass market in order to stay afloat but yes, selling your dignity is exactly what's happened here.  It perfectly describes, I think, what OP's issue with the game(s) is.

It's really hard to have a memorable cast when everyone is an archtype from a Shonen Jump anime.

That's the point, I wasn't talking about easy mode. I played the game in classic mode and lunatic difficulty, and all my points still apply. I only had fun in the 4 first chapters. Easy or Lunatic, an empty map is an empty map. Awakening saved the Fire Emblem IP, but not the games IMO (it was my point with my comparison with Dark Souls).

Waifus battles were a huge internet subject about Awakening (Lucina, Tharja, Severa, Sumia with Chrom or not?....), and it's worse for Fates even if the game isn't out yet. Boobs weren't a subject in Awakening (only in DLC, and it was already pitiful at best), it's a subject in Fates. But my point here is : ok, sex sells, but would you be OK with sex being put in every game? In the next Mario game, would you like sex/nude scenes with Mario and Peach, or Waifu simulation with Peach and Daisy? (with a new and more sexy art style, of course)

Your example is poor due to demographic.

Teens and young adults play TRPGs.  Teens and young adults like sex.  Therefore, sex in the games.  Mario is marketed towards kids.
