Not a good idea. I can somewhat understand if it is a temporary measure for a day or two to drum up interest in the mode but even then the lack of communication isn't good. If that's what you are going to do, tell people.
Risky move though. I play Splatzones almost exclusively these days, I love it. If I happen to not like tower control, it could drive me away from the game.
You don't know what you have until it's gone.
So Splatoon is going to be a random rotating modes and maps... Might as well just add a random game mode, where everything is randomly selected: map, mode and weapon (maybe even gear). See how you fend yourself there and become an all-rounder.

But you like it kinky. Especially with all those tentacles.

That's almost as terrible as when Epic Games locked Capture the Leader mode in Gears of War 3 behind a DLC, completely blocking it off from people who'd been playing the game Day 1, and instead gave a lackuster mode that paled in comparison. xD

the most popular mp game has a random gamemode, and has brand new game modes regualary, for some weeks before they vanish.
So is this confirmed? Splatzones is gone? I haven't been alble tp play much Splatoon since Splatzones released because I'm in my busiest peroiod of the year at work and uni right now, so I never really got to get into the mode. I think I'm currently stuck around c or c+ ranking or something and now I don't get to play it?
Some people are saying that the modes are rotating, any word on how frequently?

Well it's an industry standard to copy every successful Nintendo thing, and Splatoon has been a success, so... doom. |
It's an industry standard to copy every successful idea, period. That's why Nintendo uses dual analog sticks, DLC, and internet multi-player. Don't try to imply it's not a two-way street.
On topic, I'm not sure what to say. People bought Splatoon knowing that they were totally putting control of their already paid for content into Nintendo's hands. One of the things I said about this early on was that Nintendo was manipulating the roll-out in an effort to keep it going long-term so that they could continue making money from it and keep Nintendo fans happy during the lean periods. It's pretty clear they want to extend the life of this game and they're going to do what they need to do to that end.
Still, yes, they should have disclosed this aspect of their plan from the start.

Already proven then? They should make it!
