It isn't and even if they didn't lower the score because of it, they would have at the very least mentioned it and you know, maybe some people would have been very much less interested in buying a game that tries bullshit like this. Simple fact, Nintendo not releasing the game finished has kept a feature that for all intents and purposes is shitty away from reviewers and people that bought the game at launch. |
BS
In no way the game would be less appealing or have a lower score for having 4 modes at launch instead of 2. No freaking way.
The fact that ranked battles modes are rotational doesn´t make the game any worse, it just doesn´t improve it as much as it could, wich is a shame, but not a drama.
The main reason why people get excited about Splatoon and the focus on every review of the game is Turf Wars, not splat zones, not battle dojo, not tower control, not rainmaker, not even single campaign, it was turf wars, the same way that MK8 is globally praised and love only because one mode.
Now Splat Zones and Tower Control are very good modes too, and that shitty decision shows that they didn´t though this game could be as succesfull as it was, but the game is now not only as funny as ever, but even more. And again, you will be able to choose between 4 modes to play with your friends very soon, so the game is getting better with time, not the other way around.
The appealing and fun factor of Splatoon has not really diminished at all because of that, in fact, with all the new stuff is higher than ever.
