Looking at Star Fox Zero and his gamepad projects last E3 he's past his prime. I want him to make one last great IP. |
Star Fox Zero seems very interesting and fun.
Pikmin 3 is one of the best Wii U games.

Based on this quote from the same article, they are definitely hunting for some kind of gimmick:
“For us, the next step is to think about what is going to be that element that is really going to catch the attention of a large number of players again and get them excited,” says Takahasi. “We’re constantly thinking about this idea from the perspective of the players and the needs of the players in terms of what can we can do with our ability and our technology to capture that excitement and passion.”
For their sake I hope it works out better than the Wii U tablet or even the 3D screen of the 3DS did.
Genyo Takeda is really the hardware guy though, not Miyamoto, so as long as he is involved, I would not expect massive changes. IE: If you're expect a PS4/PS5 killer, you're likely to be dissapointed.

That's already too late for NX I am afraid.
THANK NINTENDO GODDESS AND GODS!
THANK YOU PALUTENA AND THE REST!
That guy is OBSESSED with gimicks. Mainstream gamers do not want gimicks.
Now, please, NX team, do something good again since the 3DS.

Genyo Takeda is the guy who's been in the charge of hardware technically, and he's still overseeing NX from everything I've seen.
And Nintendo basically states in this same interview they are looking for a gimmick. Iwata also said they have no interest in simply doing the "conventional hardware upgrade" route.
The next system will have a gimmick. There's little/no doubt about it.
I guess that means that there will be no game pad for NX. Thank you lord.

Nothing to do with Miyamoto, it wasn't advertised correctly, given a horrible name, and most people didn't realize it was even a brand new console. Miyamoto develops the software, but lets not give him any input on the hardware he is working for? I don't get why there is so many cheers for this. Am I just completely off the wall? I guess so... |
I think you may think that his part in hardware decisions is too severely distant. I'm sure that Miyamoto still has a lot of sway in what goes in and out of the hardware. Iwata makes the final decisions, I'm sure Miyamoto can get whatever he wants into the machine if he makes a great point about it. To me, it just sounds like he's taking a less active role in NX. Remember, this is the guy who said he'll loosen the reigns of nintendo and have the new generation put in more of their own spin. He's been doing this for years, he needs to give up some of his time and let the next wave of Nintendo decisions onto someone else.
And I don't think anyone forgot Miyamoto, even the younger kids out there. Sure, this generation is less knowledgable about him and his games, but what do you expect, that's just how it goes. I don't know very much about Rover Cleveland, but no one faults us for not givng a damn. Miyamoto is the father of the videogame industry, the real father, the one we'll remember as the Walt Disney of videogames. That being said, the purest, the historically knowledgable, the ones who have a passion for this industry, they will remember. History will remember this guy. And for those who don't and they play games, well we can just they're not just into it like us.

Yup, but that nesearly doesn't mean bad thing.
Some previous infos about NX:
What we are always striving to do is to find a way to take novel technology that we can take and offer it to people at a price that everybody can afford. And in addition to that, rather than going after the high-end tech spec race and trying to create the most powerful console, really what we want to do is try to find a console that has the best balance of features with the best interface that anyone can use.
But really what's most important to us is, how do we create a system that is both unique and affordable so that everyone can afford it and everyone can enjoy it.
What I think is unique about Nintendo is we're constantly trying to do unique and different things. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they're not as big of a hit as we would like to hope. After Wii U, we're hoping that next time it will be a very big hit.
When it comes to how dedicated game systems are being played, the situations have become rather different, especially between Japan and overseas. Since we are always thinking about how to create a new platform that will be accepted by as many people around the world as possible, we would like to offer to them "a dedicated video game platform with a brand new concept" by taking into consideration various factors, including the playing environments that differ by country.
If you only expand upon existing hardware, it's dull. In some shape or form, we're always thinking about how we want to surprise players as well as our desire to change each person's video gaming life.
Because we are calling it a 'new concept', we are not thinking of this as a 'simple replacement' for the 3DS or the Wii U.
