Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto is not making hardware decisions for the NX

Maybe I am ignorant, but how is Miyamoto not being involved in Nintendo decisions ever a good idea?

Praise da lawd! This might not actually be a train wreck now.

My guess is they'll end up launching something like the NVidia Shield console (a capable, cheap machine with a conventional gamepad) along with companion apps for mobile devices so that you can keep playing some version of your console games while on the go.

The system won't be as powerful as PS4, but it will at least be cheap and less risky for them to launch.

Instead they are letting Reggie make all the desicions about the NX.
XD

At this point a Western designed NX is better for Nintendo than a Japanese designed NX.

I completely disagree.  We need Japanese game devolpment, both software and hardware.  Go play Xbox if you think otherwise.  When did variety become a bad thing?

I was primarily talking about the hardware not software, and I said this because the Wii U's conservative hardware approach is partially due to Japanese enviornmental standards and stuff. More Japanese games is a good thing compared to the barrage of gritty action games and shooters on the other consoles.

God I hope not. It would be terribad if its not at least as powerful as the PS4. Especially since Wii U was nowhere near that powerful to begin with. If NX is less powerful than PS4 then I would have to consider NX a disaster. It needs to be in the relative range of PS4 if they want to have any sort of hope that it will get 3rd party support. Not just in the immediate future, but it will also need to stand for a few years when the PS5 and Nextbox happens. It won't be able to do it if its weak.

That's probably for the best.

I feel like many of you on here are too young, or simply don't remember Miyamoto's contributions to Nintendo hardware.

And wow, the WiiU isn't as successful as the Wii. Nothing to do with Miyamoto, it wasn't advertised correctly, given a horrible name, and most people didn't realize it was even a brand new console.

Miyamoto develops the software, but lets not give him any input on the hardware he is working for? I don't get why there is so many cheers for this. Am I just completely off the wall? I guess so...

Then I guess I'm also completely off the wall.

blaming success/failure  on a single man is stupid

people hoping for a regular controller can forget about it. Nintendo has already said they aren't talking about how the NX works so that their competitors won't have the time to copy them. that means it will have something new to it
