Forums - Nintendo - I feel so cheated getting the Wii U

I bought mine in November 2013 and I still feel kind of cheated.
I actually would have been fine with 4 years of support, but now it looks like we'll only get 3.

Well, by the time you bought it, they'd already announced the NX. The writing was on the wall.

Strictly speaking, NX hasn't been "announced". It has been confirmed that the code name for their next platform is NX. That's it. We know nothing more - there's plenty of speculation, but that's it. That doesn't count as an announcement.

As some of you may know, I purchased the Wii U less than two weeks agao. Being less than 3 years into it's lifespan, I thought that I would be safe in regards to future releases and announcements. Well...Now I'm scared. I don't necessarily regret getting the Wii U, but I am definitely disappointed with what has happened the past few days. Nintendo, please announce more games for the Wii U (that aren't cross-generation with the NX) and I will be satisfied with my purchase!

They will. What a lot of people fail to understand is that Nintendo doesn't use E3 as a platform to announce everything. They gradually make announcements throughout the year. THey made announcements before E3 and they'll make more. I'm sure you'll probably get at least 2 more years of good games on the Wii U.

Some titles announced outside of E3:
Fatal Frame (originaly), Bayonetta 2, Xenoblade X, Hyrule Warriors

And I'm sure some others. These games were all announced holiday season, so I'd wait until Dec/Jan before you start to worry.

I don´t, I bought it a year ago and I loved:

- Mario Kart 8
- Pikmin 3
- Smash Bros 4
- DK Tropical Freeze
- Captain Toad
- Splatoon
- Bayonetta 2
- Wonderfull 101
- Super Mario 3D world

I also like Hyrule warriors, Zombie U and I have to pick Wind Waker HD and Monster Hunter 3

And I´m very hyped about:

- Yoshi WW
- Mario Maker
- Xenoblade Chronciles X
- Fast Racing Neo
- Star Fox Zero
- Fatal Frame V
- SMT X FE
- ZELDA

Also there is a ton of good indies and games from Snes, N64 and Wii

I´m just sad that the console has flop so hard that is probably going to die before 2017, but while the console is alive, the exclusives are really awesome and I´m going to be playing MK8, Smash Bros and Splatoon for years, those are the kind of games that never get old.

People overreact after E3 because it didn't show their wanted games

And they just forgot about Nintendo Direct

if you think that there won't be any more games after this spring then don't worry, you'll still have maybe 5-10 quality titles. we have the rest of this year, then next year, and half of 2017. Everyone who has one will probably have a similar library by the end though.
1, mario3d 2. mario2d 3. hyrule warriors 4. zelda 5. splatoon 6.bayonetta 1&2 7. mario kart 8. smash bros 9. fatal frame V 10. pikmin 3 11. wonderful 101 12. devil's 3rd 13. star fox 0 14. mario maker 15. xenoblade chronicles x 16. donkey kong tropical freeze 17-20. future unannounced titles. I think the biggest woe is that it's confirmed we're not getting a metroid on the u. I was pretty convinced that would happen.

In five or ten years you will be able to state that you had the legendary Wii U - the one with all the amazing games! "Why can we not have sequels to those legendary fabulous games" (that nobody bought)!

Sadly, I feel fairly confident that there will be no more major Wii U games that haven't been announced yet.

If you're smart you'll be buying every Wii U games you can get your hands on. They will be worth a lot of money years down the road.

You learned something. Dont get nintendo sytems if you want more then 3-4 years support.

Basically this. Microsoft and especially Sony support their consoles for much longer. Hell in the PS3's last year we got TLOU, Beyond Two Souls and Gran Turismo 6 among other exclusive games like Puppeteer. Nintendo seem to ditch support for their consoles after the 3rd or 4th year. I remember that happening with the N64, after a bit more than 3 years on the market, they began focusing on "The Dolphin"(Gamecube) and the N64 took a backseat sadly. Same thing with the Gamecube and Wii. If Nintendo do release the NX next year(which I doubt, 2017 I think) this will mark the first time they have had a 4 year gap inbetween consoles rather than a 5 year gap.
