All I hear now after Nintendo's lackluster E3 presentation is that they've shifted all their resources on to NX and all the big games are coming out on NX as early as next year. 

But if NX is truly releasing the fall of next year that would mean the Wii U's life cycle was only 4 years. That sounds disastrous to me. The software droughts for the Wii U were already bad, I can't imagine fans being happy after only 4 years of support for Wii U.

Alternatively, if Nintendo is releasing NX in 2017, they need to support Wii U with some big games for 2016. But everything looks so barren right now for 2015 and next year that one can only assume Nintendo is shifting away to the NX early this cycle.

What do you guys think? Will they release NX fall of next year, or is that too early?

Ah another person who seems to think the nx is a handheld lol. I'm still surprised people exist that believe this. Their handheld device is doing fine compared to the Wii u. Their console is going Sega level failure. Which needs more replacing sooner? There is only one logical answer. Accept the true.

When NX was announced I predicted it would release in Holiday 2016 and I stick by that. I know some people believed it would have been a handheld, but that's much harder to believe now after seeing the Wii U's presence during their E3 direct.

it doesnt matter if 3ds does well or not, its time for a new handheld in 2016. why should they rushout another console if the problems the wii u has are still around? releasing a new homeconsole wouldnt change anything as long as they dont fix some problems.

Maybe we should wait to see what kind of console the NX is before talking about Wii U's lifetime.

4 years is actually quite a long time.

People who are going to scream "Sega" are wrong, the 32X was supported for like 8 months (lol) and the Saturn in the US for maybe 2 1/2 years, so it's not equivalent at all.

The first XBox had 4 years of support and the GBA had 3 1/2 years, so that's really no the issue.

The issue really is what will be so great about the NX that will change anything in this equation for Nintendo? That's the bigger question. Is it another gimmick based platform (some of the Iwata comments seem to hint at that direction)? 

It wont really be 4 years, its not even 3 full year... the third year is meh, worse than the second year whereas its supposed to be the opposite ... 2016 will be even worse and as empty as Wii last year, like if the Wii U didnt exist.

Even the gamecube had a much better treatment ( Metroid, F Zero, a true Mario 3D, many RPG's, great games, oh man...I miss this nintendo, they seem dead)

If they release a new console so soon, before 2018 while they gave up Wii U after 3 years, i hope gamers wont buy their next console, they wouldnt deserve it ( well unless they show a true mario 3D for their new console, real metroid game, f zero... )
