I don't know why it's always about winning but for some people it seems to be the only interest. Well, to me bc *is* a big thing. I have a lot of 360 games and still a huge backlog on this system. Also I didn't enter next-gen by now. So if I "now" (soon) enter next-gen with a bone, I am able to play a lot of these games on a new system, without the need of having the old console still. It is especially not only bc, it's the whole system in a new system. Party chat, online gaming, everything is exactly the same as on 360.
So reality check - to me, it's a BIG plus.
Second, to publishers not allowing this: Why not? They can sell you games on a new console without the need of doing *anything* besides allow the game to be played on the bone. There are still sales for 360 games going, a lot. So instead of investing in an hd remaster they don't have to put money on a game anymore and still generate sales with these games. That's what happened also to other consoles, like PSOne Classics or the virtual consoles on Nintendo consoles. Not to mention that even if you already own the games for Sony's and Nintendo's emulation, you have to buy the game again.
So reality check - it will bring money to publishers, this will be a pro for them.
All im saying is you will be surprised, all publishers had to do was ok PS1 games to be on PS3 and it was free money right? But they didnt. The amount of PS1 games re released was pretty pathetic, and the wait and begging to get most of the big ones was a very long wait, especially in europe.
BC is a good thing on the whole, but this isnt true BC, it requires PUB to resubmit there games, which sadly will only be a minority of the 360 library. Hopefully MS are actively pushing to get all the biggest 360 titles.
I like the concept of the Xbox One BC with the 360, but I'm worried about its execution. I have a few of the big titles that were released and it's inevitable that they will be supported, but what about the smaller, niche titles? What about the titles whose licenses or developers are no longer valid? I can say with certainty I will be able to play a Bioshock or a Halo or a Gears or a Mass Effect on the Xbox One, but will I be able to play a Akai Katana, a Deathsmiles, a Binary Domain, a Tales of Vesperia, or an Magna Carta 2? Will the publishers even bother?

I don't know if the situation for PS1 games was the same. Do you have any sources for this? Why was the list short? Where did they say that pubs had to allow this? Where is the info they actively didn't support it? Btw, with PSOne Classics the money went to Sony first. Here no money goes to MS, it goes straight to the publishers like sales do when you buy for 360 (well, actually you buy them on/for 360 ;)).
And no, there is no "resubmit", it's just an "allow". If it will be the minority of the library we will see. We are not talking about a 2 gen difference here but only one gen where you can expect more sales than with games over 10 years old, especially considering these games get sequels on the next-gen system able to emulate the old games. They can even make bundles like with Fallout.
But yes, hopefully they get the majority of *all* titles.
There are tens of millions people who haven't upgraded to the current generation.
Also MS is offering insane 360 trade-in deals. Even if you already own a PS4 and/or a WiiU, you can technically get a new X1 for $200 and that's a very attractive price.

I think he is talking about when/if developers choose to re-release their games digitally. PS3 had true PS1 emulation, all discs were compatible day one. No authorization was needed because it was true emulation.

Ok, so this is a totally different situation as this is not about re-releasing anything.
You need to put your Xbox 360 saves on the cloud if you want to use them on X1.
fuckkk idk how I will do that. If I can get my 360 somehow up and running so I can upload my Alan Wake, Saints Row IV, and Tales of Vesperia saves to the cloud xD
Streaming costs money. Why do people keep forgetting about this?
Building or buying a professional emulator does this, too ;)
That's true. I'm not sure if ps4 could emulate ps3 games though. I don't understand techincal stuff as much as some other users do, so I take their word when they say it's not possible. But again, my point was specifically directed at people who keep saying that people who own a ps3 game should be able to stream it for free. It can't happen. If an emulator was somehow made, then yeah I'd be all for being able to play the games I bought on ps3.

There just is no way for PS4 to emulate the PS3, case closed. The system is way too complex, sadly. So at least they are trying with PSNow but streaming games is currently just not really convincing. It's expensive on both sides, is complex for the service provider (Sony) and a worse experience for users.
