Capcom's been offering more support to Nintendo this generation than most companies.

That's debatable.Yes, Capcom has put a good amount of games on Nintendo system this gen, but if we take a closer look, we could question the quality of that support.

The obvious, Monster Hunter, is on 3DS, sure. But when you think about it, it's the console that the MH userbase mostly own, specially in Japan. Unless the PS4 surpass the sales of the 3DS in Japan, there's no finantial reason to bring those games to the other system, specially when it's cheaper to develope for the 3Ds that the PS4.

This is revisionist. Monster Hunter was, and arguably still is, their biggest franchise, and they publicly pledged it to the 3DS a few short months after the system was released. This was before the Vita launched, yet early enough in development that changing its system and/or porting it to other platforms was feasible if Capcom so intended. They've instead kept the mainline series exclusive to Nintendo this generation to this day.

This is also putting the cart before the horse: the MH userbase is on Nintendo systems because the games have been on Nintendo systems, to the point where a mainline entry was on both the home and portable console within the launch window.

The same can be said with Phoenix Wright.

This is untrue. The series has been on mobile already, and its genre is well represented on the Vita, perhaps even to a greater degree than on the 3DS. There are viable alternatives to Nintendo systems, if Capcom was so interested. Yet Capcom has kept the series on Nintendo systems.

Street Fighter 3DS was a port that would have been more apreciated on home console, fans of the fighting genre prefer a controller over a handheld. Being a launch title from a popular franchise, it was cheap to make and bound to sell well.

This is irrelevant. Capcom had a good portable version of its most popular fighter available at the 3DS launch. That some folks would prefer it on home consoles, where it was already available, does not change this. That this was a good and profitable move for Capcom is even less relevant: I expect businesses to do things to make a profit, and do not see making good business decisions as a detriment to supporting a system.

Resident Evil Revelation was a multiplat that sold the best on the 3DS. Did that console got the sequel? No. I don't know the reason why. At least The Mercenaries worked well enough.

This is your strongest argument, and to be honest I don't think it's an incredibly strong one. They released two games from one of their biggest franchises within a year of the 3DS' launch, and Revelations in particular was a high-quality offering that clearly had a lot of talent, thought, and energy poured into it. The HD port was even placed on the Wii U, even though that's systems sales were already abysmal at the time the port was announced. I also (kind of) lament that the sequel is not coming to the 3DS, but that does not retroactively delete the past.

Darwinianevolution said:

That for the titles Capcom has made for Nintendo systems. What about all those HD remasters? Resident Evil 1, Devil May Cry, RE Zero... Yes, the WiiU is not as powerful as the HD twins, but if the PS360 can do some of those, the WiiU can do too. Capcom has a lot of cartoony fighters, like Marvel VS Capcom, or Street Fighter itself, but there's no port for the U. I suppose Nintendo will announce eventually some Wii games from Capcom on their Virtual Console, Okami in particular.

And here we come to the real heart of your argument: you want Capcom to release more for Nintendo systems. And that's fine. Heck, so do I. But that's an entirely separate issue from the fact that Capcom has been developing and publishing a fair number of good games for Nintendo already, and that its support for Nintendo platforms exceeds that of most third-parties.

I don't find it a coincidence that Capcom has one of the three third-party Smash characters already in Smash (the others being Sega and Namco, the latter of which provided the lion's share of the game's developers), and I don't find it insignificant that every May Capcom monopolizes the Virtual Console releases, while also putting up more  of their back catalogue games in other months as well. Simply put, Capcom has been better to Nintendo fans than just about every Western publisher, and just about every Japanese publisher not named Sega or Level-5.

bump because it's caturday.

Though I doubt it would be nice if Capcom released SFII Turbo HD Edition and/or Street Fighter III for the Wii U eShop.

Welp.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Yeah other wise this makes zero sense.

Mega Man is in smash and then the Mega Man collection skips Wii U

Ryu is now in Smash yet the game hes featured in is exclusive to your competitor

where's the pay off lol

The fact that two of the most iconic character in all of gaming are in Smash is the "pay off."

Ryu's stage looks very good on Super Smash Bros.

What was the "pay off" for Sonic in Smash? As far as I can tell, Sega was the one paid off. They got to use Mario characters in Mario & Sonic at the Olympics. That was the exchange -- Nintendo gave Mario to Sega, Sega gave Sonic to Nintendo.

If you really think there has to be some kind of benefit to Nintendo involved other than having these characters in their game, just assume this is all part of the 3-year Monster Hunter exclusivity contract we've all heard so much about. Maybe Capcom is extending the contract in return for Nintendo using Smash Bros to promote Street Fighter V.
