First of all, I'd like to welcome the new faces; we're glad to have you here and I hope you like your new home.

Now then, a little Community Content:

  • Check out what went into building Kratos for the live-action God of War Ascension trailer that aired 2 years ago. The actor is Brandon White, and you can find the workout he used here.

  • Check out Anne's story: a cosplayer who lost over 100 pounds by changing her diet and exercising. She used her passion for gaming to power her weight loss.
  • With the recent release of Arkham Knight, I thought I'd add in some Batman stuff. Check out Tom Hardy's workout for becoming Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.

I don't follow a diet but I've pretty much stopped eating dessert and only drink water and 1% milk nowadays. I try to do about 100 sit-ups a day and go for a 4-5 mile jog 3 times a week. My long term goal is to run a marathon.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

Welp I was gonna head up north for Canada day but that isn't looking like a good plan anymore. This is a picture of my hometown of La Ronge, at approximately 7:30 yesterday evening. Should be daylight out but the smoke is very thick from all the wildfires, and ash covers the streets. Looks like Silent Hill kind of. The weather will continue to be hot and dry so I don't know how bad it will get. It's really beautiful up there though and I was planning on camping but that looks out of the question atm. Hopefully the fires spare all the communities. I have family up there firefighting.

In fact the fires are so bad that the smoke is affecting out air quality 500 km south in Saskatoon. The air quality is rated 10+ (horrible) on the index so I don't want to go for a run anymore. A shame really. I relly hope things work themselves out up there. Wildfires are a normal occurence for us in Northern Canada but it looks pretty bad right now.

Some People In France Got Very Sick Doing Their Version Of The Tough Mudder Challenge

11,713 Shares Entertainment | Fail 6 hours ago

You’ll be familiar with the concept of the Tough Mudder Challenger, you’ll probably have friends who have done it and uploaded their picture to Facebook afterwards where they are drenched in mud.

Well you can do the same thing in France except they were probably drenched in their own vomit as well as over 1000 people got ill when they attempted Mud Run two weekends ago. This was because the mud they were churning though to have a good time was actually a load of animal sh*t, so that’s pretty awful.

According to The Daily Mail at least 30 people came down with a ‘mystery outbreak’ which is more commonly known as ‘coming out of every hole.’ There was extreme vomiting and diarrhoea.

The feces on the course released a bacteria similar to salmonella which when ingested made lots of people extremely ill.

Since the event on June 20th, over 1000 people have experienced symptoms in one kind of another.

Organisers of the Mud Run have since said they're thoroughly investigating what could have caused the illness. It's probably all that actual animal sh* to be honest with you.

Who knew that sitting in an arm chair playing FIFA could have better health benefits than extreme outdoor activities?

Meanwhile here’s some terrible faceplants fails and wipeouts to keep you amused.

well i have been working out on and off for years. A couple months ago i noticed my shoulders were sore or some kind of pain or discomfort especially when i was laying down and it had been hard to sleep at times.
After reading around and getting it wrong i think it is shoulder impingement or perhaps the start of tearing my rotator cuff. After doing some outward rotation exercises and fixing my form the pain went away but i'm not sure if i'm better yet.

The workouts that i had found online really did not do a good job at mixing in external rotation in the workout. This is the first time i've ever been injured. You really need to be careful how you choose your workout because a body that is unbalanced is injury prone.

Definitely. For example a strong core is very important for keeping your back straight during squats.

@Padib: Good to hear!
