Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony needs their own Amiibos, this is why

i am not sure which sony character would make appealing amiibos for the consumer, charcaters from killzone, uncharted or god of war are not exactly attractive. As for Nintendo, well, most of its ip characters do really fit as toys and are very well known

"It doesn't make sense, Nintendo's characters are too iconic!"

LOL!!! Exactly

Sony doesn't have the IP for an amiibo line. They don't have the range of iconic characters and franchises that Nintendo does. This is why Playstation All-Stars failed. Sony relies far more on third party IP than Nintendo does.

Uhhhhh no

Sony needs to keep doing what they are doing, which is the opposite of what Nintendo is doing.

They dont need to be distracted by a Toy line, just focus on their videogames for their videogame console.

Toys figurines have nothing to do with the videogame world.

Sonys IPs are more known than Skylanders

they dont have the appeal enough to warrant a wide variety of figures imo

and? There are several amiibos that have little brand appeal, but that doesn't stop fans from collecting all of the line.

They are part of smash so it kinda does^ And thats some, not really several. They dont need to be popular in their own franchises. Captain Falcon proves this

I don't think Sony "Amiibos" would be anywhere close to the success as Nintendo's.

You have to realize that Nintendo's IPs and characters are household names and known globally from kids to adults. How many kids actually know of all those Sony IPs? How relevant are they?

Nintendo has its own theme park coming with Universal Studios which should put into perspective the grand scale of Nintendo characters. Mario is the biggest gaming franchise in the world - Spyro, Crash and Sackboy can't even come close to comparing.

Sony made theme parks with crash bandicoot before. And not every amiibo now are household names. Chibi robo isnt

Crash Bandicoot I believe was literally owned by Universal for a while, hence the theme park involvement, Universal Studios
