yeeeeeees
not because ukulele.
but because 3D plataformers can be amazing!
i want them to have the same attention as AAA games.
I like 3D platformers but LOVER 2D platformers. I think we need more of those... oh and make them difficult again, please.

There's loads of 2D platformers...
It's why I went from a 360 to a Wii U, the color brown and grey were getting old.

But what is the status quo? Quality platformers on consoles other then Nintendo are rare, only thing that comes to mind recently is LBP3 (even though 2.5D), Ratchet Nexus, Tearaway, skylanders if you consider that a platformer. All successful respective to the environment.
Ratchet has maintained consistent sales despite oversatuation and although Nexus only sold 600k it was released alongside the PS4 and so those sales are respectable when other 2013 games like GT6 and GOW all saw massive %50+ drops compared to previous entries.
LBP3 has sold 1.5m despite franchise fatigue and not being developed by the series veterans.
Tearaway: considering the highest selling PSV game is 1.4m, tearaway is sitting pretty at 600k physical sales, great respective to the platform and not including digital.
Skylanders is more adventure/action then platforming buts its obviously a big success.
Knack isn't quality but still sold 1m excluding Japan where it was bundled.
OP:
The answer is YES! developers should have more faith in platformers considering their solid performance and low production cost. The problem is they want potential gold mines, they want to produce the next assassins creed, the next 10m seller... those same ambitions will be the death of many studios, but I think we'll see a rebirth of the AA studio this gen.
After looking at this, i notice we need a Kirby 3D Platformer. Makes a ton of sense as it could be the Banjo Kazooie of Nintendo.
Colorful / Can fly (sort of) / Transformations? His Copy Ability / Well, should be more but i cant think of lol
Nintendo needs to make a collectathon 3D platformer. Either DK/Kirby fits the bill :p

Most likely - then again, would Pillars of Eternity get nearly $4 million in funding if it wasn't made by people who are cRPG legends - and boy did they delived.
As for this game, considering it's not really my cup of tea, if it wasn't for those names, I honestly would've just glimpsed over it and thought it's some tie-in game for some unreleased cartoon or something like that. But given that those are Rare guys, they'll probably make something good.
Don't know many companies that run on the premise of faith. At the end of the day, i'm sure the creators of this game here will be shopping this it to a major publisher for distribution once its near completion.
